2009-02-07 11:54:37 on There’s this guy on youtube, and i’ve watched all of his videos.
I agree with the first 2 posts and would add:
Why not make a cute video and post it as a reply to one of his— not about him– but something that would catch his attention because of its wit or cleverness?

A Quick Guide to Researching Useful Information for Essays and Homework
1. List key words with which you will search:
• five words or phrases that describe your topic perfectly and simply—how would someone “file” it.
• three words or phrases that “limit” that word or distinguish it from others
example: if I want to know about what makes children in a country sick, I would say: infants, children, illness, sickness—to limit it, I might say: U.S.A. or Africa, most common, etc.
You should use several combinations of these terms to search for your topic.
2. Head to an academic library, whether electronic version or in person. Libraries pay for access to information that you cannot easily find just out there. Plus, librarians are trained to help you. If you cannot do that, proceed to #3
3. Use search engines that are geared to find you more academic sources.
• http://www.academicinfo.us/ — you must click on the topic area and then keep clicking into more specific areas related to your topic.
• this link will not work but if it did you could click on the topic area and then search with one or two of your key words
• http://lii.org/ - you search with key words and Boolean operators
• http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez this is highly technical medical stuff (if you use this, be sure to click on the “limits” tab, then check “free full text” and “review” as the type of publication.)
4. If you cannot do that, use google.com, but don’t just search randomly.
a. First, try entering your key terms and add one of the following: “.org”, “.edu,” “article”. Search three times using all of these terms. This will take you to organizations, educational sites, and articles on the topic.
b. Or, Click on the little “advanced search” next to the Google search box on google..com
• Choose “100 results” to the right
• Enter your combinations of terms and terms you want to exclude
c. AND use Google Scholar– just type in scholar on google, follow the link and use the advanced search.
Be sure to evaluate the source, using this guide: http://www.library.jhu.edu/index.html

2009-02-02 21:51:26 on I am a 23 year old law student, who goes to school full time and works full time.
The one peice of advice I woul give you is tht patterns of behavior are very hard to change. If a person is unreliable before marriage, he or she will be unreliable afterward.
I would list the weaknesses and strengths of each guy and then ask “Which of these traits would really still appeal to me 15 years from now? Which would irritate me? It may help you get a different perspective.
I would also ask the current boyfrien to show he is willing to go that extra mile by getting his GED and job training before you make any promises. I think that you will find that your difference in education level could be come a real problem in the future. I am not saying that he needs to go to college, but he needs to be further along than he is. It would also prove if he really is willing to o anythig for you. IF he does not, then perhaps you should consider at least having lunch with the old boyfriend, just to see…

Ooh, Laina,
I like the second one– probably because the lead singer (the tomboyish one) is Ella…and I loved her in the Taiwanese dramas The Rose and Hana Kimi.
Sorry Xeno… I probably contributed to getting off topic…but I like the Was (not Was) because it is (only a little I’ll admit) weird.
By the way, this is the only one showing up in my notices… now THAT is weird.

because cholesterol is a nationwide problem? use google or google scholar to search for “statistics cholesterol ‘name of country you live in’” You might compare it to flouride (I know some people hate it, but still) that is added to water in order to promote dental health– use google or google scholar to find information on the history of that …sorry it this is too late…

About the family…. have you thought of taking aside the person you trst the most and telling them how you feel?
You might come across so “fine” and “together” that they might not realize that you are feeling this way. It happens a lot to people who are expected to be star students.
CAUSE GOD IS ALWAYS WATHCING YOU! or at least lets say; “If you do down today, you WILL still go up tomorrow!”

believe it or NOT, you wont be sinning, but…IT IS TRUE!

o_O okay…..?
Wha?
Mary, really, not to deliver platitudes, but if you concentrate on your own strengths, I think you will do fine.
It may help you feel better if you call the admissions offices that you are interested in. Do not start with the negative… emphasize your strengths, then say, oh and by the way, I am not a “math person,” but I have done quite well through Algebra III.
I think you will find that if your plan is to major in something non-math related, you will not face as much of an obstacle as you might think after reading that “disclaimer” you were handed.
2008-11-17 18:48:20 on I am trying so hard to ignore me wanting to cry.
Just to chime in, Mary, I barely squeaked through Algebra I , II and geometry and then took a computer programming course to replace math my senior year in high school. It was a little embarrassing, cause my sister was all Calculus IV and Trig expert, but hey… Although I certainly would not have made it into an engneering school, I found a fine liberal arts college… and, to make a long story short, ended up with a graduate degree in English. This is just to say, not excelling in one subject is not the end of the world.
Just do your best, build on the strengths you have and try not to let the stress get you down. Just look at the class change as a way to have a less stressful senior year… and focus on enjoying the last year of high school as much as you can ( of course, keep studying too :-) )
2008-11-17 18:33:11 on My low opinion of my writing may be preventing me from going to the right college… I just need advice picking which one.
If the English department at the art program is decent, I would suggest going there for these reasons:
First, if you double major (even with a less strong English program) then you could eventually move on to a MA or MFA that would really boost a writing career more than an undergrad degree.(Iowa an Ohio University offer good MA’s in creative writing.)
And, actually the workshop idea might be your best bet for satisfying the need for guidance now. If you look around for workshops with well known and up and coming authors/editors, you would make the connections and recieve the feeback necessary to find an agent/editor.
