unfortunately, no.. its called syringomyelia and has grown into syringobulbia. Its a fluid filled cyst tumor caused from blunt forced trauma by my ex husband. I am a 10 year domestic violence survivor. At least I was a survivor until now. ugh! This is very very rare. one of my many neurosurgeons has told me, in his 35 years of practice he hasnt seen one only heard of them and that they are so rare, you only see them in gunshot wounds or stabbings. So being hit and getting one, I had to of been hit extremely hard.. With this i told him, my ex husband use to take his knuckle to the middle of my back. I have been turned away by many neurosurgeons, a few who had no guts to tell me themselves after my long road trip and sent their nurses out to tell me. No one really has a clue on what to do about this. Yes, there is the thing about putting a catheter in to drain the spinal fluid and a drainage tube comes out of my abdomen for the rest of my life so that the tumor doesnt press on my neurological system as it is affecting me so badly with my daily functions such as walk, talking and my arms.. but… it wont stop the growth of it. this thing doesnt have room to grow out, only up and down. it has now reached my brain stem. it was only a 4 inch mass between my shoulder blades, now it has reached my brain stem. they cant operate on this to remove it as i will go paralyzed. even putting in the catheter is very risky and there is a huge risk of infection that can occur. so i dont know.
sometimes i wonder though. i watch all these people in the world be total asses and have a great life, everything they ever need, great health, lots of happiness and everything and then you have people such as myself who try to be the best that they can towards others, living by the rule of treat others the way that you would want to be treated and give and give even if you dont have and yet, our whole lives are filled to suffer. i just dont get it and i guess i never will. ~sigh~

Shie, I recently learned of something called Hydrocehalus which is an accumulation of spinal fluid building up in the brain. Is this what is happening to you? Or - is it possible that you have this condition in addition to the tumor? And if yes, is the surgery that is being discussed / debated involve having a shunt inserted to divert the fluid out where it can be absorbed back into the body? I’m asking because I know someone with this condition and he is a co-host of a support group for it. If Hydrocehalus is a word that has been tossed around in your doctor visits, let me know and I’ll put you in touch with this guy. BTW, this guy was born with the condition, has a shunt, and is 47 years old.
