• wat do u reckon the meaning of life is?
  

  Whenever, I can get out of the way, Life has is greatest meaning to me. I suppose this is going to sound odd but the meaning of life for me is life itself. It is wonderful great dance just happening and it doesn’t need to happen for me for any reason other than for the full purpose of its own happening….flowers bloom, are pollinated, seed and die…and some just bloom and get stepped on by a cow. Life is beautiful and absurd. I feel lucky everyday to experience it. Everyday, every moment, we are given the power to choose what life means for us. I choose joy, love, peace. I am open to this in all moments. I see this in my children. I experience this sometimes when I help another person. I feel it when I loose track of time while I am working.
  
  Usually, when I say this most often the next question is how can you say this in the face of so much suffering in the world. And although I am not Catholic, I understand what Mother Teresa meant when she answered how she could face the agony of Calcutta and serve these suffering people day after day.
  
  She answered, “To me, each one is Christ — Christ in a distressing disguise.”
  
  So every ******* you meet is just God, and every saint too and the guy farting in the stall next to you in that public toilet. …all of them examples of God.
  
  By the way, Mother Teresa never forced her religion on anyone. She helped Hindu’s become better Hindu’s etc. In case it isn’t obvious, I am not any religion but I am fully in touch with life’s meaning for me in this world. This is your responsibility…to figure this out.

  Life has whatever meaning you give it.
  
  The idea of this is great and amazing but it also means the buck stops with you. I think for most of us it is whole lot easier to adopt someone else’s meaning of life (like…Christians, Muslim, Uncle Bob said so, whatever) than to own it for ourself.
  
  Some like to think that there is Giant somewhere with all the answers and if you don’t listen to Him/Her/It then it is possible that you will be sent to bed without supper (Hell). So be it. But this is a fear-based approach to living. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Some people don’t even need religion to have a fear-based approach to living. It’s just not what I need to be motivated to enjoy myself or love my neighbor.
