  Watch for people that make his death all about themselves. Make it a POINT to avoid those people for the rest of your life.
  
  These deaths will happen from time to time and will start happening more often as you grow older- It’s a scary part of life, but quite enlightening. One guy I was familiar with was thrown out of his truck and killed on the highway. Another just died of an OD. I never had a large part in their lives, nor they me. But it made certain I knew of my own mortality because of the proximity, which is what I guess I took most from the experience.
  
  The only thing I can suggest you do if you feel so inclined is to leave your condolences (online or in person if you chance a run in). This helps support the family in a rather unbearable time, and brings a small amount of closure that you may feel you need… Even if he wasn’t a major part of your life.
  
  Just please, for god’s sake, do not make RIP bumper stickers and parade his memory around sanctimoniously.

  As I perceive, gay guys do flirt with women. But not in a “oh I want to jump your bones” kinda way.. More so just to be silly and off the wall.
  
  If he’s ignoring you, and your “gaydar” went off, he’s most likely not interested. If he isn’t speaking to you after this event, you can wrap it up any way you wish- but it’s still only amounting to one thing.
  
  By initiating him, it is a possibility you did scare him off, that he did not intend to send that message to you. If however you wish to repair your relationship and have some way of contacting him, you may do so. Keep in mind not to implicate him in his perceived sexuality- in case he isn’t for doing so will offend him and push him away even more.
  
  That’s just my opinion though without knowing him or you and could be completely off.
