I wish I could stay and politically debate with you all some more, you’re fascinating to talk to, in many ways, but I’ve actually got a Comparative Politics paper to write (haha) so good luck figuring it all out. Just try to keep an open mind, everyone!

Yes, and the administration has now admitted that the information that Saddam had WMDs was faulty at best. I do think that Saddam was a tyrant and as close to evil as they come. But I feel like the pain and destruction we’ve caused Iraq (not just by invading, but by messing it up, and having no good plan for peace) is ALMOST as bad as what they went through under Saddam Hussein. But only an actual Iraqi can judge that for themselves. Now all we should be concentrating on is whether the best descision is to try and fix what we messed up or just get out completely.

So, Maximina, are you a democrat?
2007-11-13 20:05:39 on Why are people so pissed at Dubya?
Well, our history with Iraq extends back awhile, but it wasn’t just a set of circumstances leading up to the Iraq war… it WAS the Bush administration that decided to invade.

The events leading up to 9/11 I don’t know much about. Al-Quaeda based in Afghanistan was apparently behind it… the invation of Iraq was something GWB started pushing directly after 9-11, although it didn’t have anything to do with it (except it was a good excuse) and no one can know FOR SURE what GWB was thinking and why he wanted to invade Iraq. But we know he was thinking about it as soon as a few days after 9-11.

What do you want a timeline for, again?
2007-11-13 20:00:29 on Why are people so pissed at Dubya?
There are probably many reasons why GWB wanted to invade Iraq instead of other places. Oil probably played a factor, as well as his father’s history with the country. And I’m sure at least a small part of him thought he would be doing good for the people there.
The point is that he went about it all wrong, had no plan, and more importantly, lied again and again to America about his reasons for declaring war.
And SA is a powerful ally, which is why we wouldn’t dream of invading them.

Maximina is right.
2007-11-13 19:57:12 on Why are people so pissed at Dubya?
The terrorists who killed so many on 9-11 were not located in Iraq, and it has been proved that they had no connections to Iraq… until we created such turmoil in Iraq that NOW al-Quaeda HAS found a place for itself.
2007-11-13 19:55:31 on Why are people so pissed at Dubya?
Baconater, do you really want to know why people dislike George Bush, or are you simply angry that there is such political debate with low voter turnout?
2007-11-13 19:54:02 on Why are people so pissed at Dubya?
If you know how to pronounce their names, then why make childish remarks about semantics? Either tell us why you don’t like the democratic candidates or don’t make offensive remarks at all.
2007-11-13 19:52:51 on So at school.
This sounds like a good time to talk to someone at the school or at home… make sure he doesn’t come after you again. If you need to see him, I would apologize… not for defending yourself, but for sending him to the hospital. Violence isn’t a good response, but he did start it, and should have known what he was getting into, I suppose.

I was not yet old enough to vote in the last election, but am still politically active. I’m 20 now, however, and will probably be voting democrat in the upcoming election.
I disagree with his foreign policy. I think his administration is rampantly sexist and find the reversal of women’s rights appalling. I think his education plan is awful, especially his handling of sex ed classes. I am fairly anti-war, and very anti-how he has handled the Iraq and Afghanistan war. I find it atrocious how he used 9-11 to push forward his agenda which had nothing to do with the deaths of all of those innocent people.
There are a million other things, but those are some reasons why I dislike ‘Dubya’ and why I would never have voted for him, and will not ever vote for anyone with his political views.
I don’t really believe that humans can be evil, but I think he is selfish and greedy, and easily persuaded by the people around him who are also selfish, greedy, secretive and manipulative.
