The Airman should put you in touch with Family Services on his post or at least the Chain of Support for his Company. They will be able to tell you all you need to know, and even help.
2007-12-05 06:23:08 on smoking in work, on break times help please?
If you are the only smoker you will eventually find out from your boss how much people are talking about it and complaining most likely. However, it’s your choice. Just because it’s a smoke break does not imply that everyone should have an opinion about it due to popular culture saying they should. If there are other smokers, try to go when they go. harder to complain about a group.
2007-12-05 06:18:23 on Elevators - What an interesting environment they are!
Great subject! I’ve not thought about to too much…just follow the rules haha. But I don’t remember anyone telling me the rules before I followed them, so where did they come from. To short a time in transition to start a conversation, and any conversation that you were having (with a fellow rider if you arrived together) has already been interrupted by the insane feeling that the elevator must arrive RIGHT NOW…WHERE IS IT. It’s alot like the customary greeting during a short transaction such as walking by someone you know and saying “good morning” or “how are you” or the same happening at a register somewhere. You just don’t start a conversation because it’s understood that is not the purpose of the meeting.
2007-12-05 06:08:57 on Got any Multi-tasking tips?
I believe you’ve gotten some good suggestions here, and I would like to add something that I find effective when dealing with task lists. while you are categorizing your tasks by category A, B or C, try also jotting down a benefit of completing that task. If it’s a mundane sort of thing (like attending to finances) and there is no immediate rush of “feeling good” once it’s done, then create a self prescribed reward for completing it, such as jotting down that you will buy yourself something unneccesary or indulge in a movie or some other sort of downtime. Ohters may have their own benefit such as cooking a healthy meal allows you splurge a little more on desert or wine. I think most people will find it very rewarding to pursue the mundane tasks once they are assigned a tangible worth. Don’t cheat yourself on this, ever. Cheating yourself once will rob it’s value and make it ineffective.
2007-12-05 05:29:01 on Does anyone have an opinion about whether an organized quit smoking support group in the workplace is reasonably appropriate or not?
Certainly…we are pretty lax about people taking breaks as needed.
2007-12-04 14:35:58 on My two year old has strep throat and is miserable, of course.
Thanks for the advice Xeno, that helped get some food in her during the worst of it.
2007-11-29 13:29:36 on what percent native american do you need to be to qualify for your card?
Do you know what Tribe your ancestors are from? The tribes are all very different, for example, the Cherokee will issue a tribal membership card to up to 1/16 blood descendants, however that does not guarantee you are eligible for all tribal benefits. Also, that percentage must be proven, which means that your ancestors would have had to sign the Cherokee role for proof.
A good place to start looking for info would be the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs.
2007-11-15 10:49:16 on My laptop screen wont come on.
Shine a light at the LCD screen while the computer is on. If you can still faintly see the desktop with the light shining on it, it is simply the LCD backlight. In that case, the previous advice of the checking the connector to make sure it’s seated is a good start. Otherwise, the actual backlight device must be replaced by the manufacturer.
If you can’t see anything, then chances are good that the entire LCD is toast, which must be replaced by the manufacturer also.

2007-11-15 10:41:21 on Is there a way on microsoft word to make all images the same size?
If the images start as the same size, and you are simply adjusting them in the same way, you can select all of them together and adjust all the same. Otherwise, all images imported into word are treated as separate entities and each has it’s own properties and adjustments based upon it’s original size. I don’t know of any other actions that can be performed other than what I explained. There are other utilities and programs that could be used to re-size each BEFORE importing into word though. (Photoshop for example.)
2007-11-15 06:42:58 on How do I do a check disc utility?
go to command prompt (select “RUN” from start menu if on Windows 2000 or later, type either “command” or “cmd” without the quotes)
In the command window, type this without the quotes: “chkdsk c: /F”.
Hit Enter.
You will see either the check disk util run, or it will say that it will run next time you start your computer. If so, restart your computer and allow it to run when starting.
If anyone else posts different instructions, such as typing “fdisk” DO NOT FOLLOW them.
Be carefull asking for PC help in a forum like this, because there are malicious people that could to you to do very bad things.
Hope this fixes you up
