  I think the basic idea is, Listen when someone’s talking, talk when someone’s listening. You need to do both to make a conversation, don’t you?
  
  It’s important to speak out and put your opinions across. If you have problems you need to be able to communicate it to someone. And also, it’s all very well listening to someone elses issues but how are you really going to help them if you don’t open your mouth to give them advice?
  
  I think talking gets a bad reputation because words cause alot of conflict. A word placed wrongly or misinterpreted, or even intentionally cruel words can cause huge arguments even if this is not what the speaker set out to do.

  Thinking about it, I reckon any personality trait that’s on the extreme side of a spectrum is viewed as a weakness by someone or other. Too modest - too vain, Too Smart - Too Dumb, Too Introverted - Too extroverted, too kind - too cruel etc.. Unless you’re one of the monochrome people who are never /too/ anything, anyone can take an aspect of you and call it a weakness.
  
  The way people perceive others personality depends on their own, surely?
  
  If you’re the type of person who’ll abuse peoples kindness you’ll start to see it as a weakness.
  The type of person who appreciates kindness will see it as a strength.
  
  Unfortunately I reckon there are less of the latter around these days…

• My friend’s mom has breast cancer!
  

  Whatever you do, don’t try overly hard to be sympathetic. What she needs from you is to be a friend. I always found it even more upsetting when people tried to tip-toe around me.
  
  Help her to focus on the more positive things in life, but make sure she knows that if she does get very upset, you’ll listen. Other than listen, you can’t do much else. As much as we’d all like to be able to make things completely better, it’s not going to happen.
  Try and keep her optimistic about it.
  Treatment for breast cancer is getting more and more successful, and believe me I’d know. My mother has just finished all of her chemo and radiotherapy and she’s well on her way to being completely better, even if it has been a rough road :]

  Moogan, thank-you, I found your advice particularly useful from one hair-dye addict to another. I’ve bought a leave-in-conditioner especially for dyed hair, which seems to have helped a bit in just one wash..
  
  I’m also planning on getting a pretty short cut, which I think may help a bit seeing as my hair gets a heck of a lot stronger the nearer it is to the roots.

• What do you think the cut off age for women having babies should be?
  

  I’m torn to be honest. I don’t know all too much about it, haha.
  Everyone able woman should have the right to have a child, but then every child should have the right to a mother who will be in a good position to support them throughout the best part of their life.
  
  If you were to have a baby at 54, you’d be turning 70 at the same time your child is 16. Can you imagine the difficulty the parent would have in keeping any control of them?
  It’s the same thing with OAP’s running around after their toddlers… I just couldn’t imagine it.
  Fair enough it depends on the health and circumstances of the woman, but at best she probably only has 25-30 years left of her life.
  
  Some may argue that a 54 year old woman, who’s got some money under her belt and is pretty settled, raising a child is better than, say, a 23 year old with little money and not much by way of a career…
  And though I sort of see that, I just think once you’ve hit 50 it’s way too old.
  
  
  As a personal opinion, I think the cut off age should be 40, give or take a few years, unless there is legitimate medical reasons behind having the child.
  
  As for men, I guess I don’t really see it in the same way. I think for me it would depend on the age of their partner.
