  I am sorry you find so many of the men in your life are disrespectful.
  
  You say the lack of respect you have been shown has made it difficult for you to respect yourself. Is it possible you have it around the wrong way?
  
  If you don’t have respect for yourself then maybe men are feeling it is okay to not treat you with the respect you deserve.
  
  If someone, particularly a man, is treating you with any disrespect or is condescending toward you, or overtly sexual toward you in a way you don’t like, then I recommend shutting them out of your life. Simply make them absent from your world as much as you can. And if you can’t do that then definitely call them on it. Tell them when you find their attitude lacking or rude in any way. You don’t need to be nasty about it. Just let them know they have upset you and you don’t appreciate their comments or actions.
  
  With some people it probably still won’t help but in many cases people are simply ignorant of the impact of their words or actions. They can be so self centered it doesn’t occur to them that the comment they just made could be taken the way you have taken it.
  
  In response to Anon’s comments I too have found myself in awkward situations trying to be chivalrous and having it backfire. I just apologise and tell them I meant no offense. It hasn’t stopped me trying and far more women appreciate the gesture than get offended by it.
  
  If you want more respectful men in your life then go to places where you might find them. Internet dating is a good way to get to know someones moral’s and values before you have to meet them if it is a romantic attachment you are looking for.
  
  Men from certain religous backgrounds are often raised with strong morals on how to treat women so maybe attend a local church or get involved in church community activities.
  
  Once you find men who are chivalrous and respectful then often they will have friends and acquaintences with like minded men. So break into a few circles and before you know it you may be surrounded by the kind of people you are looking for.
  
  We all have a choice who we let into our world. Choose to be surrounded by the people you want to be around.

  Sorry to hear your company isn’t rewarding you for the work you do.
  
  But hey I think you are actually in a pretty good situation work wise compared to a lot of people out there. If you are as good as you think you are then you should be able to find a better job in the field that you are in with a different company.
  
  Find a good recruitment agent who can be discrete and tell them you are looking for something new. Browse all the local and regional recruitment websites every day or two checking if anything new has come up. Network with people in your field through social networking sites or in person.
  
  In the mean time you have an income and a secure position where you currently are so you can look for that perfect replacement job without panicing and needing to grab the first thing that comes along.
  
  Do you have the kind of relationship with your boss that you can ask him why the Xmas bonus wasn’t good? Maybe it was a clerical error? Or maybe something else is going on.
  
  I’ve had a lot of success in pay rises over the years by asking my boss what I can do over and above my current role to help the company and therefore increase my pay packet. If you don’t ask you probably won’t get.

  Yep. You don’t need someone who would disrespect you. Especially to so many people.
  
  Find someone who treats you right. And while you are at it look for mates who aren’t so keen to walk away from you over some idiot telling stories.

  Can you both move out into separate rental accommodation and rent the house for enough to cover the payments until you can sell it?
  
  How many rooms are in it? Can one of you move out and rent part of the house to offset their share of the costs?
  
  I don’t recommend going on for two years pretending to be a partner to the guy just because it is inconvenient to take the hard road. If you hate him as much as you imply and you have to deal with a full time university course and a full time job I can’t see your mental health hanging in there for that long.
  
  Property can go down as well as up. If you can’t sell the house now for enough to cover your penalty fees then you could find yourself still unable to sell for enough in 2 years time. You do need to get some advice from a local property expert. Get a real estate evaluation and check to see which way the local market is going.

  You need to sit down with your Dad and tell him how you feel about the situation. I don’t think you can fix his messed up love life for him but you can let him know that his actions and choices are putting you and your brother under a lot of stress.
  
  If I did the math right then you are 21? Your brother now 11?
  
  You shouldn’t have to be in a situation where you fear for your safety especially in your own home. I’d ask your Dad to consider a restraining order against the woman who is abusive so that you can feel safe in your own house.
  
  If he won’t do that I am not sure about the legal aspect of you doing it yourself. There are some free legal advice websites around if you search for them.
  
  I guess you can’t just leave because that would leave your brother there alone with your Dad.
  
  I am sorry you find yourself in such an ugly situation. Especially so soon after losing your mother. Look after you and your little brother as best you can and I hope the new year sees things take a turn for the better in your life.
