  Hm, have you tried hooking your camera up to the TV with the included A/V cable. I read here that it can help : http://blogs.yucs.org/~dwallach/2004/08/canon_e18_error_repair_instruc.html

  Have you tried changing the batteries? I find that usually fixes any problems I have with my cameras x
