2009-07-18 06:13:25 on Is religion the root of all evil or our saving grace?
Neither, methinks.
Human nature is the source of the very concept of evil (along with all the atrocities we perpetrate upon each other), and human nature also contains all the compassion, kindness, ingenuity and motivation to save us.
Human nature often compels us to do things that come clothed in the idea of religion.

I doubt it.
I think what you mean, but don’t really know, is that you want someone who verifies your OWN view of YOURSELF.
Who you are, and who you think you are, are two different things.
Ooh, good call wildprimate. I don’t think most people think about that distinction.

2009-07-13 21:18:59 on Is Atheism a religion?
Coolbrav, I get what you’re saying, and I really like this passage:
God created non-existence … therefore, non-existence (as a creation) became existent but was separate from God and remains separate from God during its existence … when non-existence (ie the creation) rejoins God it becomes non-existent … therefore, non-existence becomes non-existent. God is present the entire time, it is the creation (non-existence) that is present and is not present.
I think that it is a complex idea, and not something most people think about, but it is interesting.
However, if the above passage is true, doesn’t this also seem likely:
-God created existence … therefore, existence (as a creation) became existent but was separate from God and remains separate from God during its existence … when existence (ie the creation) rejoins God it becomes non-existent … therefore, existence becomes non-existent. God is present the entire time, it is the creation (existence) that is present and is not present.-
This is why I think the idea of an ultimate Creator precludes the idea of God’s existence or non-existence. Really if there was a god that created everything, neither idea could encapsulate that god and both must be as true as they are untrue.

Calm down, sparky, nobody’s talking to you.
Would jail not be a part of life that can only be truely explored by living in one? Therefore I would be exploring life by going to jail, it’s not like I would be a deff life sentence.
It doesn’t make a difference, I’m not going to jail and I don’t truely want to. I was making a point in that life is better explored when doubled.
I find your view of life also clouded. If all you need to enjoy it is the knowledge that you control it, that is quite sad in my eyes.
I have visited jail, not as a criminal but as an observer. I have seen that they are actually cleaner and more full (of goods) than most family houses, which I feel is a terrible truth.
Those people whom have comitted some serious crimes are living a better life than those without crime, and at no real coat to them but some freedom.
You know, most pet owners actually treat their pets well? My dog is nearly an equal to us, even eating at our table, with his own, healthy, dog food of corse. He is the member of our family we happened to buy.
My point is, jail=| pet ownership
I also would like to add that calling out someone life view as ignorant Is quite ignorant in it’s own
I can see that you’re interested in continuing this argument, for some reason, but I really can’t do it. I’m not even trying to make fun of you, your words have made me feel truly bad for you and I feel bad about arguing it and calling you boring in the first place. If you find a good place to explore life, jail or wherever, I hope it works out for you and you can see that there is more than food, exercise, work and material goods. Good luck, man.
2009-07-12 17:05:31 on i just found a snail and i’m making it my pet.
Wow, I’ve been gone almost two days and you guys are still talking about me? Sad… no, I’m not even going to get into that.
What’s really sad is that, when I say there’s more to life than food, exercise, and a job, you automatically think that I’m talking about…
seems he needs material goods
…material goods. =(
Is that really all you see in life? Food, exercise, a job, and material goods? Have you never had aspirations to see a new city, learn a new language, make wild love to someone you’re passionate about, see a beautiful new scene in nature? You’ve never needed to spend time with the friends and loved ones of your choosing?
Oh man, there’s so much more to life. I have to admit, when I called you boring I was just trying to tool you a little bit becuase I thought you were making an ignorant comment. But I didn’t realize that this is how you really see life.
Now I just feel bad about even arguing with you, man. Truly, all negativity aside, go out and experience life. There’s a whole beautiful world out there beyond the basic nessecities of life and beyond material goods. I really pray for you that you see it.
Good luck, Sitnalta =)
it bugs me cuz it LOOKS like we’re together when we go out, so when i’m talking and he’s drooling at sumone else, i feel really disrespected…
I get that; it makes it look like you’re totally putting up with some jerk who doesn’t care about your feelings, so it lowers your social value, yeah? It also kinda makes it seem like he doesn’t care about what you’re saying, even if he really does.
Have you told him about this?
2009-07-12 08:05:00 on Hi I have a big problem.
I don’t understand why you can’t argue with her when she’s pregnant.
Also, if you can’t afford it, then it doesn’t matter if you argue or not, right? I mean, the money to pay for this and all your bills isn’t just going to appear out of nowhere just because you don’t argue against it, right?
My advice, don’t bother arguing. Agree with her. Then say, “Okay, now let’s figure out how to get the money for all of this, and still be able to pay for our bills and everything.” If she has some good idea for coming up with the money, great! Then you can have it. If nobody comes up with a good idea, then you can’t have it even if you agreed with her, right?
2009-07-12 08:00:53 on will guys always check out other girls, even when there’s a huge age difference and even when they’re with another girl, gf, or wife?
Nope, not always.
I’ve been with girls that have been so engaging (if they are really attractive, or really interesting and talkative, or for whatever reason that grabs my attention) that it is hard to really notice other people when they are around. Guys are just like any other animal, there attention is drawn to whatever is most interesting.
Of course, you can train yourself not to check out other girls, even when the girl you are with is not the most interesting thing in the area. It’s hard work, though, because looking at other girls really isn’t a conscious thing for most guys; it just naturally happens.
Are you having problems with your guys checking out other girls?
2009-07-12 07:33:16 on Human Cost and pain and suffering.
I have a considerable amount of ideas about the topic. You’ll have to narrow it down a bit ;)
Human cost in regard to what? Are you asking about the meaning of pain and suffering? The value? The ways to avoid it?
Help me out here =)
2009-07-12 07:22:27 on how to i make a girl who sleeps around, unsleep aroundy?
Maybe she sleeps with guys to make her feel better about herself. Try telling her everyday that she is beautiful and you like her so much.
Ooh, weak game. This girl is gorgeous, right? Guess what, gorgeous girls get this all the time. You want her to treat you differently than all the other guys, right? You don’t want her to sway back and forth and leave you for another, like with all the other guys?
If you act like all the other guys, she will treat you like she treats all the other guys. Just a fact of life, that’s how people work.
If you want to show her that you appreciate her, do so in a way that she hasn’t heard a thousand times before. Show her you are different. Notice things about her intellect, her personality quirks, things that you think she hasn’t heard before. When you do compliment her on her looks, make the compliments genuine, unique, and rare.
If you want her to stay with just you, show her that you are different and better than the other guys, Don’t act like them.
I know it sounds counter-intuitive to not compliment a girl on her looks when she’s super hot. Don’t take my word for it, experiment with it and see how it works for you. It really is always the same, every time.
