  If you keep it all up inside & not pour it out, you’ll feel much crappier..
  Believe me, I’ve gone through that ‘I’d rather be dead than deal with this’ stage, and there’s a lot more things to look forward to in life

  I agree with pluto. I’m 19, and finally studying abroad away from my mom. Last winter I said me & my mates are traveling to Spain & she said ‘no you should study, you can go later, bla bla bla’ but I still went (I just say I’ve booked the tickets & all)
  
  Even thousands of miles away, she can still be very overprotective. But since I’m on my own now I don’t let her ruin my fun, although with utmost respect I understand her fear (I am the youngest anyway)
  
  But do try to talk to her nicely. Assure her you’ll be ok, give your friends’ number or if she wants, their parents numbers too! At your age, she might consider places that aren’t that far from your home (eg restaurant, movies) If you’re nice enough, she might even give you a ride to the movies! Make sure you be nice, say you love her & most importantly earn it (eg. good grades, help with the dishes/laundry) coz it might be the xtra factor that counts
  
  In conclusion, mothers will be mothers. Even when you’re in your 20s or 30s, they’ll still nag you endlessly, only you’ll have more freedom by then. But for the time being, bear with them. So like pluto said, be patient, b4 you know it you’ll be out of the house & about!

  Seems like you’re having a real tough time, and it’s not pleasing to start the year with problems all around you. But keep your head up, no matter how big a problem is there will always be a solution.
  
  1st of all, we salute you for quitting cigarettes. My brother has been trying to do that for years and he’s still smoking like a chimney! But of course after smoking for years, it takes time to get used to the nicotine withdrawal. Nicotine is addictive, so keep distracting yourself from cigarettes by keeping busy (eg. read a book, do some sports or jogging)
  
  2ndly, you’re not a bad person! Bad people are murderers, rapist, corrupt leaders, bigots, etc. Just because you got really drunk, smoked week & got fired it doesn’t mean you’re a terrible person. What’s done is done, life goes on so you gotta move forward. For a start, you have an interview next tuesday rite? Prepare for it, to ensure charm the interviewer! It might be distracting with bickering parents, so ask help from your mates. They’ll support you no matter what
  
  I understand how it feels to be stuck in the middle. My parents divorced on my 5th birthday (can you imagine!) and even now my mom keeps badmouthing my dad & periodically breaks down. You can either move out once you get a job (staying over at a friend’s for the time being is a good idea, don’t think you’re being a burden coz they should be understanding) or you could try to talk to them. Tell them how you feel. You’re their son, you’re part of the family, you have a say in the situation. Tell them how their constant arguing is affecting you. It doesn’t hurt to try, and if you never try you’ll never know. But if it persists, then you really should move out soon.
  
  As for love, well I’m single too but I try not let it get to me. I broke off before coming to study here, and I’ve been single for almost half a year, and it’s even difficult for me to mix with the locals let alone find love! So this year I promise myself to concentrate on what’s important: my studies, my mates, my passion for music & writing, getting fit & so on. It’s good to have goals & stick to them, as you’ll have something to work for.
  
  There is so little we can do to help, coz you’re in control of your life. It’s in your hands, and it’s never too late to change for the better. Having a little faith helps :)
