  There is always the possibility that her family lied - for some reason - when they told us why she died, but that’s what they said. Everyone knew she was a HEAVY smoker and coughed all the time. You couldn’t get a sentence out of her without her coughing up a lung. She was maybe 50-80 lbs. overweight also, and rarely came out of the house. …not exactly the poster-child for health and fitness.
  
  So who knows for sure - but I had no reason not to believe them then, and don’t have a reason not to believe them now.

  Careful with the blanket statements - they don’t serve your cause. It only makes you appear angry. Anger is self defeating.
  
  The truth I suspect is that I hold myself as lesser than all of you. I’m not “high”; I’m a rotten person. I’m not “mighty”; I’m weak and very pathetic at times. I’m sorry if I ever came across as high and mighty - that is not my intention. I’m not the “typical” Christian - labeling me won’t work.
  
  Biblical knowledge, or any knowledge can’t “earn” your way into Heaven. Our first mistake as people on this globe was to choose knowledge over God’s will. I do have the gift of wisdom and discernment - but I could easily be last on a very long list. No; I’m going to Heaven because I believe Jesus was and is exactly who he said he was and is - God himself. That’s it… faith only. If knowledge could do it, then you need only search the globe for enough evidence to prove Jesus is God, and presto you’re in. Of course, that would be too bad for those without the capability to acquire that knowledge - or worse, if someone withheld that knowledge, or even charged for it. Knowledge won’t do it - but faith will.

  I’m sorry to say that you’re pretty much right on here. The only issue I see is that if a christian doesn’t know God’s heart - are they really a Christian? God can’t allow true Christian’s to ultimately separate themselves from him (go to Hell), otherwise it’s all a lie and God never existed to begin with.
  
  If you’ve already chosen to live forever without love, peace, patience, self-control… (to be without God), then you’ll also live through the consequences of that choice. But, for your sake, I hope not.

  I’m sorry you experienced the worst in people - especially Christians. Surely you can see that is not what Christ or being a Christian is all about. “fanatical” and “christian” don’t go together - at least they shouldn’t.

  It is easy to be brainwashed to suit someone’s personal interests. I simply search out the truth myself. God said not to trust people - we’re flawed, not trust worthy. I’m certainly not brainwashed… I question myself all the time. What I know, and what I know that I don’t know, I’ve learned on my own without the typical human influences and self-interest.
  
  I’m curious to learn what exactly you were doing that God “wanted” you to do. If you were unhappy, I suspect it either wasn’t what God really wanted, or you may have felt some requirement or obligation to do those things. …which is no way to be happy.

  At some point in that baby’s, child’s, or any person’s life they will lie, or steal, etc. so from God’s point-of-view - which is not limited by time - they are guilty (God says we’re born into sin). However, God also acknowledged that forgiveness was necessary because “they know not what they do”. God knows at what time we become accountable for our actions. If that person’s life were to end before that time, God would certainly forgive that person. In a manner of speaking, he’d have to - or couldn’t be God… which would mean God didn’t exist to begin with.
  
  God is also clear that murder is not acceptable; I’m sure most would agree. Accidental deaths, or defensive deaths are not murder. I also would do whatever it takes to save my child - or anyone. Turning the other cheek has nothing to do with these things.

  Stealing is not acceptable. I would question, what events lead up to your starving? God said that He would supply all our needs. “our” is those people he can call his own (believers in who he is). God cannot cause “believers” to starve - or he isn’t God, and he never existed to begin with. We can force ourselves not to eat, or make a bunch of bad decisions where starving is the ultimate consequence, or by the hand of someone who forces us to starve… but “we” cannot starve as part of the active will of God.

  To humor something that cannot be true is to accept that which is false. Try to humor the more likely possibility that absolute truth exists and that ranger’s hypthetical can’t occur.
  
  However, if the hypothetical was changed just slightly to question if this could have occured on earth while Jesus was physically capable of sin - like us. Now that’s a question. Ranger, you might have had your chance. Of course, since Jesus throughout his life was sinless - your attempts would have been rejected… in the perfectly polite way only Jesus could do.
  
  Dotspot, not everything has an explanation / excuse. Who would claim otherwise? That’s a blanket statement against Christians to simply attempt to discredit anything they say.

  Ranger, you hear “blablabla” because you presuppose the opposite. Open your mind to the possibility that what is true is something other than what you already know. I do the same, and everytime in the end if there is a solution that we can understand, the absolute truth remains that God is unchanging and right all along.
  
  God can be kind and loving, perfect and still allow horrendous things to happen. God doesn’t make those things happen, but knows they will happen and allows them. Much of those horrendous things are caused by ourselves - not God. We choose right or wrong and live the consequences, or potentially force the consequences on others.
  
  There is no such thing as 100% innocent people. True they could be innocent of the thing that caused the consequences they are wrongfully suffering. But, like you or I, at some point they told a lie, or stole, etc. So, innocent they are not - but I would agree that the punishment doesn’t fit the crime in many cases. That’s on us - the cause of the problem, not God.

  So Christianity is extremely limited? “Christ” - that is Jesus, God himself with absolute and complete knowledge, power, and eternal life …intimate control over every element of our lives, working in the background for the good of anyone that believes in who he is …with the promise of eternal life for ourselves? This is limited?
  
  You’re looking from inside the box. Believing in only what you see or experience or what can be scientifically proven by people with limited knowledge, power, and a limited physical life. This is not limited?
  
  In the above situation, you would not be sent to hell for two reasons: 1.) It is against God’s nature to sin or otherwise do anything that would be against anything God previously did or said. So that situation could not occur in the first place. 2.) No one is ever “sent” to hell. We end up in hell because we choose to be separated from God. We send ourselves.
  
  Imagine our world like it is today, then instantly everything that is God was no more …no more love, peace, patience, kindness, self control, and many more. That is hell.
  
  I hope you (all) make the right choice, all it takes is a little faith.
