• (2 votes) Is faith in something just where someone “lets go” of finding the truth?
  

  Faith is not about being blind to truth, on the contrary truth can be discovered through reason and wisdom. Faith is about believing and trusting in the Unseen. God has power over all things, He created life and death, and He said that no man’s life is cut short, nor is a man long lived given a length of days but it is all written in a decree. It all sounds nice and pleasant, but to live according to that requires faith.. you can’t fake that type of faith, where you truly have no worries about what or how you will die or how your life will unfold because you trust in a Greater power than yourself and believe those things deep down.
  
  I discovered the truth by proxy, through a person who delivered the message. Everyone claims to have the truth, but when you really think about it, would you trust that truth from someone who is a liar, a drunkard, a gambler? Character of the person delivering the message is essential. I met someone who was very sincere in all their dealings, kind hearted, very fair and just and always spoke the truth, even if it was against himself. When you see such a truthful and sincere person, you have to sit up and listen when they speak, and you have to have good reason to doubt their message, and most certainly you should have the ability to express those doubts and concerns to that person and have them answered with clear guidance.
  
  This quality I described here is actually very prominent in the Prophets and Messengers of God. Throughout the history of mankind, since the time of Adam, God has sent Prophets to guide people back to the right path, and everytime a Prophet was sent, there were doubters and mockers and mischief makers. And the Prophets would counsel them, and say; I have lived a lifetime among you before this, and I have always been truthful and fair, so why do you doubt now that I have received revelation from God?
  
  The Prophets believe in God and are guided by God to a greater degree than the common man, this is understandable, because they have the duty of delivering the message and their faith is strengthened by God Himself through Signs and Miracles. For the common man however who is being invited to believe in God, has only to go by the nature and personality of the Messenger and the spirit of their message. When you meet these friends of God, you can pick up on that on a spiritual and subconscious level, because they remind you of God and perhaps you see something in them which you recognize as part of yourself. Alot of preaching is about reflecting the truth back to the person witnessing.

  Please tell us a bit more about yourself, are you in the UK, USA or elsewhere? male or female, and maybe how old you are?
  
  Going by the description of your (lack of) activity, i.e. lying down for long periods of time etc, may indicate that you have gone into clinical depression. While everyone feels a bit depressed now and again, which may even be healthy, but to get stuck in that mindset is when it would be considered a more serious problem. Doctors can prescribe both drugs and counselling. I personally would prefer the drug free route, and getting exercise can help, even from light running or walking through greenery, parks etc.
  
  You can get through this and come out a stronger and more beautiful person at the end of it. Diamonds are created under the extreme pressures of the earth. Likewise, what you have here is an opportunity to find yourself and a be light to the world.

  Please don’t hurt yourself in any way, you are already going through alot and your decisions are not going to be the same as when you would otherwise be happy.
  
  Yes it hurts, no one can tell you otherwise.. even if the other person is acting like a jerk and doesn’t deserve you, that still doesn’t change that you cared for that person and to break away from them hurts, it friggin really and literally does hurt, your heart aches, your body feels sick and ill and a ton of other things are all going on which make it all so intense.
  
  But at the same time, you are growing, your spiritual self will be expanding to all these new capacities of emotion and feeling - all this will allow you to become a better person, someone who has a greater capacity for love, compassion and mercy. People who live in darkness can better appreciate the Light, and sometimes we experience this type of darkness in order to prepare us for better things our destiny will bring us.
  
  You are not alone, the Creator who gave you your life and soul is with you, watching over you, protecting you and guiding your life.
  
  It will be better if you can write out all the things that are bothering you, offload your burdens onto here - knowing that the people who care about you and understand what you are going through will make you feel lighter inside.

  You sound like a great guy, and I have deep respect for your forgiving nature. I don’t know the full story and how things really are on the ground, but from what I read, I think you have been too easy on her. Affairs are serious business and people get killed over that stuff - but if she gets a free and easy get out of jail card from you, she is not going to realize the severity of her crime. It is a truly reprehensible act of betrayal to cheat on your partner and all this time all I hear are how you are bending over backwards to keep her and I haven’t heard anything about her remorse or if she is even truly and deeply sorry.
  
  Maybe she needs to symbolically or literally be kicked to the kerb to realize what she did. Women tend to be financially dependent on their partners, and it may be one of the reasons she is sticking around… how can you be so sure that another rich suitor comes along and she packs up her bags and leaves? For her infidelity you have the upper hand in the courts with regard to your daughter and your property.
  
  The abandonment and loneliness you had as a teenager and your life experience.. all those hurts and pains have cultivated a beautiful heart inside you that is yearning to be loved and to love back. It is just so tragic that you ended up with a woman who has trapped you in her snare like this. You deserve so much better, and the only way I see this marriage working is that your wife truly and sincerely repents from her previous crimes, she should be on her knees asking for forgiveness if she really means it that much and wants to be with you. In that case, she would deserve another chance to make things right and prove her fidelity, but unless you get that sincere and total remorse you will always be plagued with doubt and suspicion. Marriage is a very sacred and special union, in which there are limits and boundaries and certain freedoms within those limits where you can share special intimacy together.. but when you blur those lines and cross over to do evil things, then it is like setting fire to the house, and only a flood of sincere apologies can put it out and save you.
  
  I know this is not practical advice, and maybe it isn’t what you wanted to hear, but I hope you atleast understand that there needs to be some serious talks and signs of remorse - it’s the only way to truly forgive and make amends and rebuild that trust with a vow to take death before ever even thinking of going astray.
  
  I feel for you, and I just hope things work out for the best for you and your daughter foremost. God is with you, take care and peace.

  As I quoted in my earlier post, the slander of your comments are a more accurate reflection of your own nature than anything about Jesus.
  
  Like the story of the thief who meets the saint, all he sees are his pockets. Not realizing that of much greater value is the wisdom and knowledge that the saint could enlighten him with.
  
  For proof of Jesus’s greatness, you have to look no further than the world around you. Billions of people around the world, including christians, muslims and even the non-religious have nothing but deep respect and admiration for Jesus and his teachings.
  
  How many followers do you see of tyrants and corrupt leaders of times gone by? There isn’t anyway, because despite the power they may have had during their time in this world, they didn’t have the greatness to live on in the hearts and minds of people centuries and millenia after their passing away.

  Look, I understand what you are saying about seeing him now as a way of realizing that he isn’t everything you are imagining him to be, but it is still a bad idea. If you do that, you risk jeopardizing your current relationship.
  
  One of the things that drew my attention to this topic was that the opening line sounded quite familiar, ..I was once involved in an encounter with this girl online, she lived nearby and was the daughter of a family friend, but we grew really close online, talking over the webcams and msn, but when we realized that we couldn’t have a real relationship due to some personal reasons, she suggested we meet, to show herself that ‘it wasn’t real, it was all virtual’. So that’s what we did, but when we met each other in person, it wasn’t so simple. We hugged each other for a few moments, sharing our warmth and a few kind words. It was special, because we walked away very happy and in good spirits, not feeling like we were in a world of darkness. We were both technically single, so it doesn’t seem that bad. If you are committed to someone and you put yourself in that vulnerable position, you can only blame yourself for the things that then go wrong.

  What is so bad that you feel the need to kill yourself over? Unless you say, you cannot know for sure that there isn’t a response that could crush your argument. If you really value the truth, you would try to seek it from all avenues.
  
  Are you a rapist, a murderer, a serial killer? What is your sin, just confess. If I ever saw you committing those types of crimes, I would kill you myself. However, if this was something you had done in the past and now you wanted to make amends and truly changed your ways, then I would urge you not to harm yourself but devote your life to right all that you had in the days of darkness.. to correct the balance, because good deeds blot out bad ones.
  
  For aslong as you are alive, the door to forgiveness and mercy will always remain open to you if you seek it, but if you kill yourself in rancor and injustice, you only invite more wrath upon yourself. Make the correct choice, choose life.

  What does it mean? Without some substance or reasoning, it’s like a dog that barks, but has no bite.
  
  But when I say it, I can justify it, because I am ridiculing the notion that someone could try to insult such a great person as Jesus, without realizing how they are exposing their own foolish nature.
