No one has also been exclusively assigned to this site since Jeff. Everyone since then have had other responsibility to deal with. The problems with the user management and moderation are a mix of lack of manpower and a lack of development. In CNET’s eyes, that covers both. Also remember that Help.com no longer has any developers. Also remember, Help.com is not an official CNET brand, thus we are the bottom of the totem pole. Gotta make the best of it.

I just went through and cleared out the moderation queue. Everything should have been pushed through.

If you feel like one of your replies or posts have been unjustly deleted please shout me. I did kind of go through them quickly considering there were ~650 of them.

Anyway, everything should be back on track and our banhammers should be working in a timely matter once more on those trolls.

Really? I find quite the opposite. I find that most of the users who ask to be a mod are really just doing it for the power. If we feel that your conduct and policies on the site accurately portray the ToS, we may consider you to be a mod. Asking to be a mod does none of those things.

We haven’t added a new mod in months. And that was only 1 mod. It was maybe a year before that when a bunch of new mods were added.

It sounds good. I just think a place where people who care could look up site news would be useful. Any old blog software would suffice for that, if nothing bespoke were available. Biggest problem is that currently, there are no CNET staff members that are dedicated only to the this project. The last staff member that was, was Jeff and that was a long time ago. Therefore, it’s hard to provide information when there really isn’t that much going on. The mods have a seperate site to communicate on but really 99% of the discussions there are regarding misconduct between users. Until we start seeing some development on this project, there isn’t really much news to report.

And yes, the announcement bar has been called into action once or twice in the last year by myself in regards to service issues with the site.

To the extent of what I know, I don’t believe auto tags were disabled on purpose, they were a result of some server issues about a little over a month ago. I cannot comment on when a fix may come, but I assure you it will be fixed or replaced.

Looks like the only graphic update is missing from Toshiba’s site.

In that case I would contact Microsoft support regarding this issue.
