  you really need to get yourself some help and support. You sound like you are going through the most terrible time, but i do agree with RaverBarbie in that your boys do need their dad, and they need him alive fit and well. Think of them and think how much they will need to have you around throughout their lives, you have so much to live for and i know that you may not feel like that at the moment but you MUST try and cling onto your life, and the first step back to a normal life is admitting you need help, which you have done by posting on here. That must have taken you alot of courage and you need to use this and move forward with your life, not give up on yourself and more important than that, dont give up on your boys.
  
  I hope you have the courage to seek the help and support to turn your life around.

  i dont know if this will help you or not, but i went out with a guy in the services who i have recently got back in touch with, and this is a poem i wrote for him… But i think it may offer an explanation as to how your girlfriend might be feeling…

  Shortly after christmas the ex got back in touch and to cut a long long story short we ended up meeting and the subject quickly turned to what had happened with us, he explained that at the time he loved me too much to have me wait around for him to come home from war and that he didnt know what was happening at the time, he didnt know when he would be going and that he felt he owed me more than a life of looking after him should he come home injured! I explained that i had never really got over him leaving like he did and that i realised i still had feelings for him. He told me there was no chance we would work out again, and kept to this for about 2 months… However, last weekend i went to visit him and we ended up kissing and getting intimate. I stopped it before it headed into the bedroom and explained that i couldnt sleep with him without knowing if it meant something to him, and that i did and still do i think, love him… We agreed to see how things go and i know that he is worried that i will get too heavy with things, but i just dont know what i want, i love my fiancee but i want my ex… I want him to want me so badly too and i want him to make a commitment to me… How can he expect me to throw what i have away without knowing what he wants? But i have tried to explain this to him and he thinks i am just trying to line him up as a rebound?!
  
  Someone please help me… I am at my wits end with all of this…. Also i forgot to mention, I have bought the house i live in with my fiancee and he has no idea that things are this bad…. We are on the hole a happy(ish) couple but do have money problems that get in the way…

  i can see both sides of the story here, on one hand you dont deserve to be unhappy and feel trapped and obligated to someone but on the other hand if your wife has no idea that things are not going well between you, imagine how shocked she will be to learn that you want a divorce… How do you even know that things would work out with your ex? I suppose you dont, and it is the right thing to do to not take things any further than just talking to her. But do you think it is a case of you may think the grass is greener on the other side? That maybe these old feelings are maybe just because you may want what you cant have?
  
  Loving someone is the easy part, its loving them enough to stay with them that is the hard part, the part that takes work and commitment. What do you think your chances are with this ex partner, do you think you would make it through things and come out of the other side still together, or is it that you are perhaps just both in this situation because you are looking outside your marriages for something you are not getting at home, whether that is love, affection, or perhaps other things?
  
  The other major factor to consider is that you have children to think about in all of this, i would never recommend an affair in the full sense of the word but you need to know what you are giving up is worth it and that your ex or you, are not going to fall at the first difficult stage. I think you need to talk openly and honestly with your ex partner about what you both want out of this and if there is any possibility that it could just be old feelings that are been stirred up becuase you have got back in contact. I really do think though that perhaps either way you have problems in your marriage that you need to address, both you and your ex partner. If you decide that things are not worth leaving, who you call a wonderful wife, then i think it is only fair that to give your relationship and marriage the best chance that you cut ties with the ex… It will be hard but you must love your wife, and if you love her enough then you must put her first, if you decide to stay and work it out.
  
  Either way it is your choice, I wish you all the luck in the world and completely empathise with you as i am going through a very similar situatuion, however i am not lucky enough to have my love returned by my ex.
