2008-05-31 16:34:12 on what are the best ways to deal with rejection?
i obsess over things, find it hard to connect with people and adapt. i struggle to join in groups of people havin a conversation, i end up feeling left out because of it.
step 1: forget you have asperger’s.
it’s just hard for some people to make friends and that’s a better way to think about it than a disability you were born with.
step 2: try.
i’ve always kind of thought that if it takes work to start and maintain a friendship, it’s not worth it, but that just left me lonely. you’re going to run into people who aren’t looking to make friends and that sucks, but you just gotta move on. i’m a situation like that right not and it’s awkward and hard and i hate it, but i either gotta do the work or be lonely.

2008-05-31 15:59:16 on what are the best ways to deal with rejection?
trick question, girls don’t get rejected, they only reject.
but seriously, find another guy to obsess over i guess. as a girl, your job is to flirt with a guy so that he’ll ask you out. as long as you follow that, you can’t really get rejected.
2008-05-31 15:49:16 on I want to approach this girl who goes to my trade school, but I am afraid of being turned down.
listen to loveline, that will help.
become friends with her, but not too friendly. Then i’ll give you an example of what to do. If you saw a movie on the weekend, talk about it and be like “yea, i love movies. there’s that one movie, [insert movie you would think she would be interested in that you wouldn’t absolutely hate], coming out.”
and ask if she was gonna see it and then be like “hey, we should see it this weekend.”
and you’re done. either she goes out with you or if she’s not interested, you can (kinda) play it off as a friend thing and it won’t be too awkward.
worst case scenario if you ask her out is she says no and you stay friends.
best case scenario if you don’t ask her out is you stay friends.
just don’t be a creeper and have that be the first conversation you have with her.

I like how UCreate thinks that if we don’t say anything about about Islam, radicals wont try to kill us. about 1400 years of history prove that position wrong.
You really can’t be tolerant of intolerant dogmas. You can’t LOVE murderers into not killing you. I really wish we could make the world perfect just by wishing it was, but we can’t. Does anyone really think saying “Please don’t kill us” will incite people to terrorism?
Oh, but wait i forgot:
there are no muslims doing you or anyone else harm that live here
that’s right people, there aren’t violent muslims! Certainly not any violent extremists! Certainly not in America! How DARE you say that people who outwardly claim to want to kill all non-muslims might be violent. how DARE you request that instead of murdering people, violent muslims should leave peacefully.
http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?sec…
WHAT??? A VIOLENT MUSLIM EXTREMIST???? THIS IS UNHEARD OF!
If you hate our country, don’t blow it up, just leave. That’s all this speech is saying. If you despise our people and our culture so much, don’t come here or if you’re already here, leave. Live somewhere with a culture and people you appreciate. The only way this is divisive is that it divides the violent, hateful murderers away from the innocent civilians. This speech is specifically talking about people who hate Australia/Aussies and/or want to kill them or are somehow otherwise displeased or offended by Australian culture.
If you want to live here, learn our language, it’s part of our culture.
If our beliefs offend you, feel free to leave as it is a part of our culture. You are free to have your own beliefs as long as you don’t endanger us.
If you dislike anything about our culture feel free to leave. This is who we are.
That’s a paraphrase of what the speech is saying.
I have a similar stance on school shootings. If you hate your life and your school so much, don’t bring a gun to school. Either get help or kill yourself and leave everyone else alone. Unless that’s too divisive…
And you know what UCreate? how dare you? how dare you attack the speaker for attacking muslims? He was saying that angry violent muslims should leave, and he said nothing about the rest of them. Yet you want to claim he’s lumping all muslims together. And then you go and connect modern america to the settlers and colonists? What?! This is like 200 years removed. And how dare you make the connection that by being americans we are somehow directly responsible for violence in Iraq? If american indians told me to leave i would tell them to stick it in their ear. My family owns this land. whether or not the people that took it over 200 years ago owned it legitimately is not my concern. If I buy a car, do i have to go trace it back to the factory to make sure it was never ever stolen? no. And if i do buy a car that was stolen years ago and has switched hands many times since then with the original owner long deceased, do i have to give it back to the original owner’s descendants? No. especially not for free.
violent terrorist muslims are responsible for violent terrorist attacks committed by muslims.
peaceful muslims are not.
Saddam Hussein, the intelligence agencies of several countries, politicians, and military men are responsible for the war in Iraq.
Joe Schmoe who voted for George Bush or whoever or who couldn’t even vote at the time, who had no idea in november of 1999 that we would be attacked in september 2001, who pays his taxes so he wont go to jail or who goes into the military to get himself through college or because he needs a job to support his family is not responsible for the war in Iraq.
Please, let’s assign blame where it is due. Hold terrorists responsible. Be intolerant of jihadists. Don’t blame me for the manner in which America was settled. Don’t blame me for the war in Iraq.
I’m sick and tired of this bleeding heart liberal mentality. this “maybe if we blame ourselves for everything that is wrong in the world, we’ll make everything better” mentality. no, terrorists blame us for everything wrong in the world as well, that’s why they kill us. it’s probably best not to promote that lie, no matter how good it feels.
2008-02-20 18:33:23 on My mouse doesn’t work sometimes but is it really broken?
It’s official: it was the function (fn) key. I removed the key and a few surrounding keys, dusted it out, and put the other keys back (i didn’t feel like putting the fn key back). Apparently, the key was sticking and messing up mouse functions. All that work to find out that it was a crumb. lol
2008-02-10 22:39:08 on My mouse doesn’t work sometimes but is it really broken?
Update: I think it has to do with the function key. On HP Pavilion Notebook PCs, there is a “fn” key between the ctrl key and windows key. I’m currently checking the owner’s manual on what the function key does and if that would explain it.
2008-02-10 22:37:13 on does it get better?
Yes, it gets better.
When i was in high school, i went out with a girl for over a year. It’s not five years and it was only high school, but it was a long time for me. And it was my first relationship, so that made it harder. She left me and i felt like i was slowly being crushed for about two months. Maybe even longer. Heck, it probably lasted that whole semester. I don’t really remember… it’s not a time i wanted to remember.
After i was starting to feel ok again, she wanted to get back together and then told me that she had cheated on me and broke up with me to go out with the guy. When things with him didn’t work out she came back to me. I was crushed all over again, so I turned her down. I probably felt worse than when she had dumped me. I had to stay home from school because i felt like picking fights, knocking over trash cans, just making a scene that i knew i would regret later. I had never felt anything like that before, and i knew enough about psychology to know that what I wanted was a cry for help. I talked to the school counselor and then went home.
My ex also told me a few personal things and that all made it worse because it showed me that she was a completely different person than she pretended to be the whole time we were going out. That was another month or so of feeling like garbage. i don’t have to explain that feeling to you, since you already know it.
The whole point is that i don’t know about you, but i wish i had never met the girl. Nevertheless, even though it took a long time (it felt like forever), I got over it. There wasn’t any magic formula or anything that i did really. It just took a LOT of time. All you can do is try to make it hurt as little as possible when it DOES hurt. For that, it helped me to have someone to talk to. My parents never hesitated to spend a half an hour to me just hearing my thoughts and telling me how i didn’t deserve what she did. If you don’t have a friend or family member you can talk to about that, you might consider counseling. I know for a fact that i would have gone to counseling if i didn’t have anyone else to go to. it’s got a stigma attached to it, but if you’ve never gone, know that it can really help to have someone to talk to.
2008-02-10 19:37:43 on I like this guy and he has expressed interest in me as well but he has a reputation for being a psycho.
hahaha, the rest of my post got cut off
seriously though, it’s hard enough to be in a relationship with a stable person. If he has issues, he owes it to himself to work them out before getting involved with someone.
