GO to Ubuntu’s site — download cd — boot?
2008-03-21 22:43:24 on linux help
Try downloading the Ubuntu installer/Live CD — either Gusty Gibbon or Hardy Heron — and see if the live CD boots normally into X/Gnome.
If so try copying the /etc/X11/xorg.conf to your installed partition.

No, mods are not paid, nor are they employees of cnet — they are volunteers from the community.

and if the mods are not sure what to do then it rely does not matter..
…..this is a private website and we can “discriminate” as much as we like…..
I’m not sure what you are trying to say?
2008-03-21 10:14:30 on Why we think you deserve to be a mod?
wast of time appointing a uk mod if the mod only comes on when the other mods are online…..
It is more important to appoint a mod that is actually online at the time you feel there is a gap…like uk time in the mornings.
Since is is a very simple job being a mod on this site then this should be a simple task to find one.
It is not very simple. In fact at times it can be very hard.

2008-03-20 21:38:49 on Why are the mods on here so quick to delete entries and close posts?
There isn’t much to say here. We close that other post because it was turning into a pointless argument.
We were not censoring any of the parties involved — rather the misguided attempt at insulting each-other (was mutual).
2008-03-20 19:42:33 on Why are the mods on here so quick to delete entries and close posts?
Because we have a duty to protect our users. IF you have a complaint take it up with me.
2008-03-19 13:32:59 on What is the best amount of emergency cash to keep on hand at home?
They say you should have 6 months in savings, maybe 1 month worth of bills in cash.
But in a real emergency, cash will be worthless — focus more on water, electricity and non-perishable food items (canned food…etc)
2008-03-19 11:54:17 on ATI Linux X.org Dual Screen.
You might actually have to use Two separate ServerLayout sections, one with each of the Screens and InputDevices.
2008-03-19 11:53:05 on ATI Linux X.org Dual Screen.
I’ve never done anything like this but you in X you can have two screens acting separately (not spanning)
Where it gets tricky (maybe impossible) is that i don’t know if you can associate an InputDevice to a specific Screen in /etc/x11/xorg.conf
Take a look at the X.org wiki: http://www.x.org/wiki/
Also consider asking on the Ubuntu forums — same as Debian but more friendly towards beginner questions

Be cool — and turn that frown upside down.
It will take me a little while to fix the lag — I notice it as well

You still can’t be a mod so get over it.

2) install Ubuntu Linux
