What is the point in having moderators that only log on very occasionally.

The moderators that this site has can do with support from moderators that are online.

Why not get rid of them as moderators and appoint users that come online.

Or is the friendship between moderators more important than the interests of the site.

if you are disabling / breaking all html. then why not put a notice on the home page to let users know.

should be fixed already.

better look at the new replies to the posts….spaces the asccii charaters are messed up

Just a little suggestion and a silly one.

I have noticed the new users do tend to shout themselves rather than use the other persons shout box when replying to a shout.

Maybe next to the users name in a shout you can add a Reply tab that takes them to the right box.

Not that many are from proxies.

banning proxy connections will help get rid of the trolls .

even though I asked you to make Anthrax a mod I dont like his attitude towards users in chat….me when I asked about responses about a report I made.

today 14:01 chat and backwards

with that attitude why should users even bother to make replies.

No I don’t think that would violate the TOS — but I’ll need to double check.

I agree it doesn’t look good to see the deleted replies.

I see many post from school children asking how to get on web sites that their school has banned.

If I give a reply that tells them how to get round any of the blocking programs the schools use would the reply be against the TOS (rules) of the site.?

If so why are these posts not closed.

But when I see a deleted reply I don’t like it.

It can make a post look untidy and when I see it in one of my posts it makes me think what the reply was.

Was this a user being abusive to me?

Users are not online all the time and meny replies will be put up then deleted before we get to see them.

I hate seeing that red box and I think that when the reply is deleted then that box should not be shown.

I hate it.

Is there a reason why it should be shown?

Or am I being silly?

I know it was at her request, but she is wrong, she has helped and her replies in the posts should not of been deleted.

I know that it is has nothing to do with me but I think some other way of dealing with this should be written into the site.

I can see the advantage of the automatic deletion of replies with trolls, but not a user that has made so many good replies.

I hope she over comes her current problems and if she wishes to come back the account will be reactivated.

I would like you to talk to antrax about her…she does go through very strong mood swings.

1) The profile page is allowed for now, as we don’t really have a clear policy for or against it.

I am on the pda now.. an old one runs on pocket pc 2003

not done much today but will send a report.

What I have done..few replies and a shout works like before.

The one thing I have noticed is it seems to conncect with your site and start down loading pages more quickly.

You seem to be on top of the lag problem.

I was just messing with some stuff… let me know if you notice any difference (good or bad) using help on your PDA.

About your idea — I think it is a good idea, but I think it will be too hard to launch a separate site, but we can talk about it in relation to the future of help.com, and perhaps make it a sub-section.

Keep the ideas coming.

what I was thinking was a good education site that covers all the topics for todays examinations for children educated at home.

Being educated at home myself I have found many such sites are not very layed out and the subjects are not very well done.

Such a site should also have a good online dictionary of the words ans phrases used……

I’m not sure I follow, you are asking if I would consider a site that is dedicated towards home schooling?

Two things today…

1…How about adding a little check box to the shouts that only the admins or mods can see that makes the “Official” shouts to the users private..ie only the user, mods and admins can see.

2…How about adding to the TOS that no one is to eat my avatar.

just let youw know some users are acting very strange……

their avatars do not apear on the home page….you cant click on them to access thier porfile page…..

their avatars have also disaperd in the shout boxes….

and the avatars have gone from their profile page…..

If you are going to bann a user for lieing about their age then you will be banning a lot of user if you decide to separate the teenagers from the adults on this site.

You only have to look at the number of users that open and use multiple accounts when they have got banned from chat room. the mods turn a blind eye to this but this has only encouraged similar behavior from others.

I noticed it. I’m taking all points into consideration and thinking about it. I’ll respond today.

another reason I think you should appoint Antrax as a mod again is he is online when their is no mods online.

I know that is a week reason but should be taken into consideration.

I’ll meditate on your point and think of a solution / work around.

I always found that he could see both sides of a argument and did not need to take strong action to resolve arguments.

He also is quick to notice trolls and has a good insight into the problems that a sight like this will face with users.

I think if he is willing then he should be welcomed back as a mod.

He was the one that decided to pack it in…not the other way round.

I think under the management as it is now he could fit in and give good experience.

He was one of the first mods on this site.

Well at least thats my opinion.

I understand everything I read…Its just my spelling I have a problem with, and of course that will improve the more I type and comunicate.
