I think there is a good person on here who would be an excellant moderator and her name is fizz. whether she’d want to do it or not I don’t know, i guess it might be hard and she might find it a lot of responsibility (if thats the right word to use). But I think check her out, she is always considerate of other peoples feelings, tries to avoid arguments and excellant at trying to see things from anothers perspective.
I think she’d be excellant anyway and would make a good moderator.

I sent you two shouts yesterday. It seems that my shout thing isn’t working properly. This morning when I logged in I had one shout, but when I went to my shout page there was a shout from Sansceriph, but also another one I hadn’t seen or been notified of from “what’s up.”

My shout thing isn’t working very well. I got a shout from that guy with the deer ears, “something gregoryovich” today but it’s not on my shout page.

Hi, Yousef. Some of us regular users have been discussing ways in which the site could be more effective in dealing with suicidal posters. Considering our recent loss of Jason (Scatt4ever) to suicide, it’s on our minds.

Many of us deal daily with posters who may be at worst in the very act of taking their own lives, or they could just be bored kids seeking attention. And yet the only resource we have is an automated response with a link to suicidepreventionlifeline.org. Most of us have no training in this area, but are compelled by conscience to do what we can.

None of it has been criticism of the site, just thoughts on how to improve help.com. Considering how many people turn to this site in times of extreme crisis, I think these suggestions are of the highest priority.

None of the mods are on my friends list (although Maxima may have invited some). But our ideas will need your, the mods’ and probably management attention if they are to be addressed. I would greatly appreciate your guidance.

What is the point in having moderators that only log on very occasionally.

The moderators that this site has can do with support from moderators that are online.

Why not get rid of them as moderators and appoint users that come online.

Or is the friendship between moderators more important than the interests of the site.

if you are disabling / breaking all html. then why not put a notice on the home page to let users know.

Hi Yourabi, I think theres something wrong with the image code. I tried to take the HTML code of an image and paste it here but when I try to post it, it comes up with code, instead of a pic.

One more thing. Yrja, a user, is trying to change her email for this site to the one she actually wants to use… But her email ends in .is Does that not work? It will not send out the verification or switch the email from her original.

Every thing left in the mod queue is all yours… As in we can do nothing with it. It is about hackers or is just plane stuck in the que.

There is a user who is repling but as he replies he gives viruises to anyone who visits the page, he is also making post! please find him/her and ban them!!

Just a little suggestion and a silly one.

I have noticed the new users do tend to shout themselves rather than use the other persons shout box when replying to a shout.

Maybe next to the users name in a shout you can add a Reply tab that takes them to the right box.

ah - I might have banned a few that Lazy reported :) most of the reports were about 1 person any way - who I sorted thru the moderated posts bit lol (I added them to banned list)
btw I can no longer see email and logged information along the top. Im assuming you changed this. I dont mind - Only 1 problem thou - when it comes to IP audits we will not longer be able to see info like aol and stuff. Could lead to mistakes.

banning proxy connections will help get rid of the trolls .

On some of the reports, reporting users I think, www.help.com shows up and nothing else, is this a mistake?

I tried to report a post, and saw that the url only displayed “help.com”… but there was a report a few minutes ago that had the correct url. Maybe it’s just the post reports? and the reply reports work?

did you say you fixed the report url thing? cause it looks pretty broken to me. It’s just showing http://help.com and nothing more for the reports right now.

I might have broken the login as user feature…so I can’t test this but you’ve been able to delete replies for a while…since I tweaked the permissions a while back.

Hey. Couple of things.
1st there is a general report about email in shouts - since we can delete shouts I left this for you (unless you want to just let it scroll out of existance)
2nd another general report about being able to see Anon which needed checking out (think this was a problem a while back)
3rd is it possible to set up a skype chat between you and me? I want to talk to you about some thing Mod-ish but private.

even though I asked you to make Anthrax a mod I dont like his attitude towards users in chat….me when I asked about responses about a report I made.

with that attitude why should users even bother to make replies.

I see many post from school children asking how to get on web sites that their school has banned.

If I give a reply that tells them how to get round any of the blocking programs the schools use would the reply be against the TOS (rules) of the site.?

If so why are these posts not closed.

Is it just me?

But when I see a deleted reply I don’t like it.

It can make a post look untidy and when I see it in one of my posts it makes me think what the reply was.

Was this a user being abusive to me?

Users are not online all the time and meny replies will be put up then deleted before we get to see them.

I hate seeing that red box and I think that when the reply is deleted then that box should not be shown.

I hate it.

Is there a reason why it should be shown?

Or am I being silly?
