I think i can help people…because i know what its like. And i also have so much faith that there is life after depression etc. Its just around the corner :P
11 pills down to none, eh? That’s kind of what I mean by grasping at straws. The attitude for some seems to be “We don’t know what to do, so let’s just make up a name for the symptoms and throw pills at it.” I deplore that kind of manipulation…anyway, I’m glad you got one of the good ones at the end. Perhaps now you are in a stronger position to help somebody else, eh?
Nah don’t worry you can ask any question you like. Right i’ll tell you what i’ve done/seen and then i will let you know…
Seen (in order)
Psychiatrist
Psychologist
Counciller
Community Psychiatric Nurse
Psychiatrist
Went2 a confidence building group at a Psychiatric hospital as an out patient
Counciller
Ok..so basically i REALLY did find them all sh!t apart from the first counciller…but she was only there for 3months and we didn’t get to finish. Then the confidence building course was amazing. Really helped with confidence, being around other people and being able to talk about my problems.
And finally my last counciller was the only one that actually ‘cured’ me. She was absolutely amazing. All the others were on the NHS (free health service) and were paid by the government regardless if they helped me or not.
And the last counciller was a volunteer for a christian charity.
They didn’t even mention religion…she just helped me. Since her i’m the tablets and i don’t see anyone now. In fact i’m so happy and can deal with anything now.
I used to be on 11tablets a day and now i’m on none!
Here’s the 64 million dollar question…how much did the counselors and therapists actually help?
I have absolutely no doubt that there are some excellent psychologists out there, but it seems like some of the time they are just grasping at straws, and making up issues to deal with. (Please note that I have limited experience with counselors, so I may be talking through my hat…but that’s why I’m asking the question, too!)
How much did they help you?
If I’m getting too personal, it’s OK to tell me to shut up! :)
Yeah i passed my a levels in psychology. Plus i’ve seen more councillers and therapists than you could think of.
I think i’d make a good counciller. I wouldn’t be patronising, i can relate, and i would know what they were trying to say because i would of been there. Plus i would love to help people like that.
Hmmmmmm….i don’t know much about sales to be honest. Over here the house prices have crashed badly so theres no house sales at all. Its good for first time buyers but people are holding out until the prices are half decent again.
I actually sell hardwood flooring. For a while, it was great because the housing market was so bad that people were fixing up there old houses instead of buying new ones…now they aren’t doing much of anything. So, yeah, I don’t want to do any commission only work from here on out!
Psychology, eh? That should be useful! Sometimes I wonder if I should have gotten a psychology degree at school…
ooo be careful or else my head will get too big hehe.
Well i’ve heard sales are down due to this national ‘credit crunch’ thats going on.
:(
Can you try and get a non commission based job? or at least one with a basic wage aswell as commission?
Good luck!
I’m currently studying an open degree with the open uni. I keep doing courses and depending on what i take all my courses in i will get a specialism…i’m thinking psychology. But only in my first year so haven’t decided yet
I’m doing pretty well…trying to find a new job, which is a bit of a challenge at the moment. I’m in sales, but noone is buying anything, which isn’t very good for my paycheck!
I don’t know if I ever heard what your major in school is…or have you decided yet?
Anyway, it’s good to have you back. It will be nice to have some extra intelligence and common sense around!
I was teasing about feeling rejected in your “shower” post…but you tried to make up for it anyway, and that’s sweet!
Speaking of shower post, it got hijacked a bit there, didn’t it? I’ll check back in a bit, but I bet that the hot water is causing your blood to rush to the surface of your skin to try to keep your body cooler…but I don’t really know why the soap would intensify that effect. Plus, if you take vitamin supplements, too much vitamin B3 can cause the same sort of thing…maybe it’s a whole bunch of little factors that all combine together when you are in the shower?
