thanks for the answer.

I’m not on help much either. after months of hours a day, I decided to do a month cold turkey - but I needed something I had written here, so I’m on for a bit to answer shouts.

I get that god is found most when in desperation, like needing air. I saw my dad find god like that, and others. God for some is that needed golden thread that gives their life meaning.

I have taken the time to ask questions and sit quietly and wait for answers. The vipassana is all about that but without me having to digest the idea’s of the modern church or bible. I meditate often, but personally the name I give to what answers isn’t god, but I understand those that name differently. I also find it easier to explain why magical things like curing a loved one of cancer goes unanswered, but increasing love in my life is answered.

thanks again for your reply. If you felt like reading the post and answering it, id be interested to read what you say. Also, if you have any questions you’d like to put to me, I’d be happy to try and answer.

Hey Chunky,

I’m not on Help.com much anymore, as you can probably tell…

Anyway, there was once a man who went and visited a monk at the tippy top of a mountain. It was a long arduous journey, but when he got to the top, he went to the monk and said “Can you tell me how I can find God?” In response, the monk grabbed him and shoved his head into a nearby rain barrel. He let him up after a moment, and the monk asked him “What do you want?” The man replied “I want to find God.” Whereupon, the monk dunked his head under water again, repeating this process several times until he held the man under for a long time. When he finally let him up, the man shouted “Air! I want air!” The monk said “When you want God as much as you want air, you’ll find Him.”

If the God of the Christian Bible really exists (and I believe that He does, of course!) then He really wants to reach out to you. He doesn’t want slaves, so He’s not going to hit you over the head with a baseball bat…unfortunately, we tend to be so overloaded with life and background noise that we can’t readily hear what has been described as “the still, small voice” that He uses.

I would encourage you to turn off as much of that extra noise as you can. Take some time to be by yourself. Feel free to ask God some tough questions (He’s big enough to handle it!) and then shut up and listen.

The Bible says that “Those who seek me (that is, God) diligently will find me.” It may take some time, but God will meet you more than halfway, I guarantee it!

I’ve taken the liberty of adding you as my friend. If you accept, you should have access to my email address should you want to communicate that way!
