• (5 votes) We work so hard to help those who are suicidal, sometimes though I wonder if those people are just posting it for the attention.
  

  One thing I was taught many years ago was if someone is talking about suicide you should always take them seriously because that means the thought is there at least on some level.

  A helicopter was flying around above Seattle when an electrical malfunction disabled all of the aircraft’s electronic navigation and communications equipment. Due to the clouds and haze, the pilot could not determine the helicopter’s position. The pilot saw a tall building, flew toward it, circled, and held up a handwritten sign that said ‘WHERE AM I?’ in large letters. People in the tall building quickly responded to the aircraft, drew a large sign, and held it in a building window. Their sign said ‘YOU ARE IN A HELICOPTER.’ The pilot smiled, waved, looked at his map, determined the course to steer to SEATAC airport, and landed safely. After they were on the ground, the copilot asked the pilot how he had done it.

  Well to be honest, I think if something good happens a more optimistic way of viewing something would be that you had control over that good thing happening to you just as you do of the bad things. People who think luck is responsible often will think the same thing when bad things happen too.
  
  For example, if you got a job you might think that you just got lucky but then when you lost the job you might think that you had the worst luck and that only bad things happen to you. A more healthy and optimistic way of living is realizing you have control (to some degree) of both the good and bad stuff that happens to you.[/quote]
  
  I can see what you mean and tbh, I don’t know how I view those bad situations :/ I suppose I’ve always been ‘lucky’ in life, but I’ve always tried my hardest to get what I want.
  
  What I meant was that I’m an optimist because I view myself as lucky, as opposed to feeling down when things don’t go the way I wanted. I tend to focus more on the positive things that have happened :)
