What do you plan to study?
Virginia Tech is excellent for engineering and business, and Blacksburg still manages to be a relatively safe and friendly town, and you can get around without a car. Lots of excellent outdoor activities nearby if you are into that.
Yes, Mariam makes a good point. You should choose your college/university based off your degree choice. You should also visit the colleges. Everyone I know visited prospective colleges during spring break in high school.
2012-07-26 15:28:17 on Who here was going to vote for Obama and changed their minds after he announced he supported gay marriage?
VOTE RON PAUL.
k i’m done.
Lolll.
Hey, when you wrote “Vote ron paul” you didn’t use all caps, but when I pressed the quote button, it automatically made it all caps. Maybe help.com wanted to add an extra emphasis.
Listen to your nutritionist.
Yeah, you and Siren are right about that. I guess I’m overthinking things. I’ll stick to the 1100-1200 cal diet.
2012-07-26 15:14:34 on How long have people been saying, “loser say what”?
forever.
except we didn’t say loser, we said something else.
Ahaha I said loser when I was in elementary school.
When I got older… I said something a bit more inappropriate.

Ok, so here’s what people tell me firsthand about these schools in Virginia.
COLLEGE OF WILLIAM & MARY (WM):
Two of my high school english teachers went here.
Pros:
It is an extremely prestigious college.
You’re chances of gaining employment just went up because of the name.
They are very selective, so you will be going to school with the “cream of the crop”
Cons:
Not very diverse.
It’s so secluded that it’s depressing for many students. If you don’t have many friends in the school, you’re at a loss, because there isn’t much to do in town.
UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA (UVA):
I have three friends who graduated from here and have met two people who currently attend UVA.
Pros:
Great teachers! The education you will receive here is amazing.
The campus is beautiful.
There are many activities to participate in.
Great employment opportunities after graduation.
Extremely selective in accepting students, so, again, you will be in a class with many smart students.
Cons:
If you don’t drink, you won’t have anything to do. It’s notorious for being a party school. In fact, I’m pretty sure one of my friends who graduated from there (huge jock) is an alcoholic now.
+ Same cons for W&M.
VIRGINIA TECH (VT):
I have several friends who have graduated from here.
Pros:
This is the best school ever according to everyone who attends it.
Cons:
According to VT graduates and students, there are NO CONS.
(Obviously, VT students have an unbelievable amount of school pride.)
VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY (VCU):
My sister goes here.
Pros:
They give a lot of financial aid.
They made the final four in basketball last season. (This is a big deal to most.)
They have one of the best gyms.
Cons:
It’s in Richmond. The bad part of Richmond. Always make sure your car is locked and that you hold on to your electronics tightly.
I hate VCU. They have stupid colors (black and yellow) and they’re mascot is stupid (ram). (PS. It’s rival to my university lol.)
GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY (GMU):
I go here.
Pros:
Extremely diverse university.
One of the best global affairs programs on the East Coast. (If you’re interested in that.)
Tier 1 Law School (If you plan on going to law school.)
Tuition isn’t ridiculously high.
Cons:
Commuter school, so you don’t get as full of a college experience as you would if you went to one of the other schools.
Lots of construction going on (they’re building new dorms) which is kind of annoying.
Ok, I’ll admit it, the mascot is really stupid. (The Patriots)
They give more loans than grants.
Hope I helped!
2012-07-26 14:28:35 on How long have people been saying, “loser say what”?
I used to say that when I was in elementary school! In the 90’s. Bring’s back memories, lol.
I also used to say, “Talk to the hand cuz the face ain’t listening.” Yo momma jokes were pretty popular too.
2012-07-26 13:52:50 on Me and my bf have been dating for a year and 2 months.
Completely agree with Alatif.
2012-07-26 13:50:06 on I want immedetly 7000rupees ho i got please tell me
7000 Indian Rupees = $126.94 US
7000 Pakistani Rupees = $74.11 US
That’s not that much. You could borrow it from a family member or something.
2012-07-26 13:43:33 on I am feeling low.
Alright Dyal, I’m going to give you a little bit of tough love here because I think you need it.
Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “No one can make you feel inferior without your permission.” If you continue to allow these people to mock you and put you down, you will never have true friends because people won’t respect you. In order to get respect, you have to earn it. You earn it by living your life to the fullest and not allowing anyone to disrespect you.
You’re always on here complaining about how you don’t have a job and feel worthless, but have you been looking for a job? Be honest-have you been trying as hard as you can to find employment? I think if you were, your parents wouldn’t be so hard on you. You shouldn’t be laying around the house all day-you need to get out there and do something with your life. Get off the computer and get a job!
i usually let the gym instructor do the calculations ….but after reading your post i think i should put more effort in doing it myself…lol i hate so much details and maths
Lol, I know how you feel.
i bought a heart rate monitor and that told me how many calories i burn. its the bee’s knee’s :)
whatever you do you need to be able to fuel your workouts. if your doing intense workouts i would suggest at least 1700-1800 a day. theres nothing worse than not eating right and working out. if i do that i just feel like working out is a total waste of time coz im not as good as i would be if i’d have just eaten right.
Oooh I want that!
I’m going to try to eat slowly and only when I’m hungry until I’m satisfied, but not full. I’ll track the calories, but I’m not going to stress too much about it lol it’s not helping. I’ll try to cut out simple carbs from my diet too. I’ll make it like a treat-not a regular meal.
Thanks for the advice!
id rather listen to a nutritionist than an app!!
True, but the nutritionist was giving me calorie intake to maintain my weight, not to lose weight.
You probably burn 1700 calories in a normal day and night.
I hope so.
2012-07-26 09:30:39 on Closed.
Each lesson is one hour so I lean towards the lower side and say I burned 746 calories today. (According to livestrong)
Thanks for the links! I’m still a little confused as to the calorie content. Like if I eat 1200 calories, should I be burning 1700 calories? Bc that’s insanity.
I’ll read through the links you guys posted!
2012-07-25 16:26:51 on what should i do to get a good sleep?
If all that doesn’t work, go work out until you feel like you’re going to pass out. Works for me!
2012-07-25 15:15:57 on Worried about my BF.
I don’t feel like I can say anything because I smoke. :(
Is this a deal breaker for you? You have every right to tell him that you don’t want to date a smoker.
