Now, I really can’t reanimate the delusional conversations out there specifically, but it was very much what you may expect from a brave outfit of seafaring men, laughing at our potential hazards and anxious concerns. And talking through our physical and mental shudders. You know, it was a real honest experience. We had our goals set for making the shore and joked to freak each other out and just laughed and even with that it felt like forever. WE made shore. and the vessel was full of water, most were ready to leave it, but me and Shawn (sea mate) strained that fuck out and up over (this is a pretty high shore, no beach) We left the boat, clothed up with what we left dry and walked down the rail road to the car that was there from the third man (I forget who now, close though). He did not want to stay at the shore by himself, so he came back in the vessel and that was why we had the over load (Kyle, good guy, house treat- not a regular really, but more of an elite regular that makes less appearances). We piled in the car, and took off back the mother vessel (the house)

Well, one of my friends found a four person paddle boat, he was inspired by our story and either stole it or brought it home from his cousin (still unsure). This vessel intrigued the crap out of me and I shifted my efforts toward organizing a grander expedition back to the island, from the right dock, earlier in the day. Now then, I organized it.
My friends dad had a work truck perfect for transporting the vessel and there was (after about a week and a half of support campaigning) a lot of people interested in making a story of their own going to this island. Well, there were about twelve people that ended up on the dock, all of them were regulars to the house, or residents to the house. We discovered that the boat could very slowly handle four people and a small girl in the center counsel near the steering shaft, but it was only the first round out that we took that size of a load. I opted as the self proclaimed and undisputed captain of the operation (this being EXACTLY the type of thing that was expected of me) I decided to pedal straight for the first two loads there and back, then I wanted to make sure that the accommodations on the island from the first wave of pioneers was running smoothly and left part of the second wave in charge of transporting the next two groups while I entered the island from the far sssouth tip I believe. When I made it to the center there was already a fire blazing in a pit with a metal rack over it, that made me feel very happy and prideful for having such a resourceful crew. Of course, I was not a fan of the rotten egg they had picked to heat up (rank!)we must have been at the island for half an hour all together, but then the sun was already showing signs of falling and we needed to get people off. We decided to let a load of girls led by one guy leave while the rest of us made the island more homely. Ah! Before everyone began to leave, me and my best mate from the first adventure wove (WOVE) leaf and branch skirts to wear for the duration of our stay (a spiritual thing, you know) But, the truly interesting part was when the second load left and it was just three of us on the island, my mate, my playful and passive rival from the house (interesting relationship), and me. Turns out my rival has a knack for fires and instructed us to make a large tepee structure over the dulling fire before we added more heat to the bottom and WOW. we had a 12 foot fire that radiated heat, oh my the heat. I felt it through a thicket of trees and shrubs a few feet away. Now, we were eventually worried, with residencies around the lake reporting a fire, but no one had while we were there.
Anyway, the hellish and brave part.
The truck left with my sponsoring friend and some, but the vessel returned with three guys in it… Not apart of the plan! The boat would not hold six people so we put four up and two at the back (me inclusive) my friend (of 10 years was the other and my sailing mate too eventually.
It was night! Our eyes adjusted, but we were hungry, thirsty, fatigued, and in the constant mentality that we were not moving! I mean, for fucking real, we all thought it was a major TRIP. The island behind us and the shore in front did not move for what felt like two or three fucking hours, haha, it was amazing! My sail mate had to get in the water when we thought that the boat was too heavy and we had too much resistance, but it did little for that theory (he is thin)-

- Well, there are many lakes around where we were all living at the time. And one middle sized lake had a tiny island on it, which appealed to me because I am fond of pirates and seafaring in their ideal forms. Anyway, for weeks I worked with my top running mate at the time to build a raft out of junk and sail out to the island. We managed to (tap) together a raft of two wooden risers fit with plastic containers that varied from milk jugs to laundry detergent jugs to 2 liter soda bottles. We picked a day for sailing and I flew the large pirate flag that the house acquired at the chimney. What a beauty, that house, a real fine vessel (dirty though). But by the evening when we convinced our friends to drive us and our raft near the lake’s shore, the weather had a funny way of getting violent (oh well). It started storming about four meters off of the shore and it was still shallow by that point. I should note too that I spent more time on deck as the flag bearer and helmsman while my mate was half in the water, eventually though we were both half in the water (as soon as the storm picked up). Now, if you have kept up still another note is we were dropped off on the opposite side of the lake that we instructed our driving friend to drop us, so we were totally against wind and current, moving no where. The water was freezing because it was fall and it had had enough time to cool off. Eventually, for my mate’s fear of freezing to death we abandoned the raft, flag, and our pride to rush back to the shore where my mate of nearly equal running as the first I have told you about was waiting for us. (the storm, was actually a violent wind storm, no rain for the duration of our escapade) Anyway, not to distract, but this is the failure that triggered the captain’s spirit in me to organize a grander adventure.

Oie! (do you say that often?) I just read your posts too, I do not loaf around when I am tired (anymore). I do have a myspace account: myspace.com/wordtariff
Oh I did boat loads during that time, literally about five boat loads in one instance. Let me gather my bearings from all these make up posts and I will go into details.
How went the day?

Hey! I know I am the one who started asking you questions first, but I am closing shop, so just don’t be too surprised if I do not answer for more than a few hours. It’s been a pleasure talking and exchanging culture tips, so much so that I added you as a friend (for what its worth on these sites)
Well, when you do, rest well and dream well

Same really? But you are happy, and that is a phenomenon here, so right on!
Mmm, love. ^_^
I am nearly 20, still in college, first year. I took a year off and lived in a seven bedroom house with eight guys (do the math, I was the one in the closet large enough to lay 6′4″ down in). That was a great experience, I met a lot of close friends that way. A few were already close.

Yeah same deal with us. everyone complains about the people in government but dont bother getting out there and trying to help change it!
Em he had trials or LA Galaxy before he came home but he had to come back because his girlfriend went over to him in his second year and outstayed her visa!! disasterous!
so now he plays in the League of Ireland.
so how old are you? did you go to college?

Excellent, that better secures Ireland as a place of visit. I do not know what citizenship is like there, but if Ireland would have me then I would be more than willing to consider being had.
I do not know you very well, but good for your brother and you! Some swell plans on your part and really neat of your brother. Does he play college soccer then? Does he plan to be pro too?
“Yeah i’d love to be more educated on American politics because i think its a bit hypocritical for me to comment on it, not knowing anything about it, but the general concensus amongst the people i know is that, Obama or Clinton, anythings better than Bush!!” Not to worry, most Americans don’t know anything about politics, our participation is so low and ever decreasing. And I am not sure what kind of deal Ireland has going on there, but participation is key in a “democracy” as we call it.

I can confuse. And looking over this last shout, well, it is pretty unorganized. If you answer anything, then let it be one or both of the last two questions (keep things light).

I’m from Dublin. I’m extremely happy here, i’m 20 but i still live with my parents… but hope to move out as soon as the college/work situation is over with. I havent really travelled, my brother actually went to college over there, his first two years in uncc and the last two in ucsb. got a soccer scholarship. so i went to visit him in Santa Barbara but thats all I’ve actually seen of over there. I have an uncle who lives in San Francisco as well but i’ve never visited him, he comes home about 3 times a year.
So like i said i havent really travelled that much but i lived in England for 3 months last year and i found out im a complete homebird and i dont think i could ever live anywhere but Ireland ever again.
Yeah i’d love to be more educated on American politics because i think its a bit hypocritical for me to comment on it, not knowing anything about it, but the general concensus amongst the people i know is that, Obama or Clinton, anythings better than Bush!!

haha, that may very well be the world’s stereotype of Americans because “we” (again I am somewhat obligated to include myself) are not terribly concerned with changing so that the stereotype will change.
Hell yes, guns a blazing, “we” are all cowboys here! It is ridiculous, no doubt then you have heard of the shootings at many schools, you are aware of the war “we” are waging for no reason, and you have either known someone who has been to or have learned about Texas. hehehe America, America, America… Well, it is complicated, but to be honest I don’t hear all too much about Ireland and well. Are you happy there? Where around Ireland do you hail?

The American stereotype in Ireland, or as Irish people see it is…..Fat Stupid Gun-toting Hillbilly.
I dont mean to offend ya saying that and i know that its not true, but its mainly the gun thing, no one understands where or how all these kids can get guns!

Ah! Not a problem, you are doing splendidly.
Now then, we are on neutral air at least and I can ask, “what is your view of the American stereotype?” I promise not to even so much as justify “our” actions because I am not so patriotic or ignorant. ^_^
