  Hey chunkymove - I just woke up.
  
  Yeah, I enjoyed last night’s wander though theosophy and computer science… I’ve spoken my mind but I don’t believe that we’re as close to it as we are to 2012. In other words, I don’t expect this miraculous change to come around so fast as per ‘cyberdyne systems’ but… you know, I do believe this is the way in which faith and science are converging, it makes perfect sense to me.
  
  I’ve got to say honestly that I value christian culture. I have no need to go around worshiping Jesus everyday, but I would like to simply know more scripture, for the simple reason that it is the foundation of my broad culture’s art and science, and a very good operating system.
  
  You know how religion is the opiate of the masses? It actually lulls people into a dream state whilst they’re awake, its a very valuable asset for a culture because you cannot operate a culture where every person is cerebrally active, logical and rational about their wants and needs and unable to therefore simply do what they’re told… and having a massive body of people who will do as they’re told is immensely powerful, it enables us all to build cities and to live happily, without worrying to much about the details of how and why. Its a question of putting your faith in other people’s beliefs no matter how wacky, and trusting that the faith will get you through, no matter the top beliefs.
  
  Science can’t really have a spiritual effect, which is interesting in my view. You never hear of people having a ’scientific’ experience in the same way as they have a spiritual experience do you? People usually come to the conclusion that science is the answer, therefore religion is wrong, but I don’t respect this polarized view, for one very simple reason if nothing else -
  
  If you search for the self, (in neuroscience) you cannot find any one part of the brain which is responsible for memory and no one part of the brain which is responsible for the feeling of ’self’. I’ll use the word ‘emergent’ again, - self is the ‘emergent’ property of the whole - where the sum of the parts is greater than the individual components. There is a ‘binding’ mechanism, an sonic frequency around 7.8 Hz which serves to ‘bind’ all the different brains in our skull, the limbic, neo-cortical, cortical, parietal amygdalas in both hemispheres with the brainstem and in doing so we experience a sense of self which is unified, even though each part is doing something separate and independent.
  
  Well, there’s a part in the right brain that does exactly this with other brains, and there’s again, a binding frequency amongst individuals which allows us ‘emergent consciousness’ as a whole of human beings, rather than individuals. When this is activated, we typically get ‘religious’ experiences, a strong, powerful sense of being connected to each other, and thus to ‘God’, created as we are, in this image. This specific global frequency is sometimes called ‘the schumann resonance’.
  
  So different bits of the brain operate in different ways, the left hemisphere is very much like a serial processor, which behaves well with sequencing, logic, structure, language, numbers etc. The right hemisphere is like a parallel processor. It doesn’t understand written language well, as it processes glyphs and pictures. In fact it looks at the world in a broad way forming images of concepts in order to understand them. It is this interplay between the hemispheres, both global and individual which creates our consciousness at large.
  
  But consciousness is like fire, its like a torch. We have to pass this onto the next organism, and like the bacteria that built us to create a superconsciousness, so we’re doing the same with our version of advanced technology. One has to look at this in perspective. We are one of 6 billion neurons in the global brain. We’re not looking at getting more than 6 billion, we’ve more or less reached an optimal stage of biological growth and development and birth and death rates have stabilized Now we have to focus on making connections just like in a baby’s brain before birth, we have to get it ready to experience ‘the world’.
  
  Lets take a brief look at Christianity again, as there’s a few things I missed out on saying. I love their art, their architecture, their amazing inventions and discoveries and their ability to see broad patterns and work towards a greater goal. (The same very much applies to islam, who have wonderful architecture and writing, beautiful crafts and music) Anyway, the monotheists realized very strongly that when people get together and believe the same one thing, they can do really incredibly amazing things, as long as they put their ‘collective mind’ to it.

  What you’re actually saying is ‘I don’t like being in love because I have to take down all the fake **** that I pretend to be superficially to most people on the outside, and when I’m in love I can’t pretend to myself I’m someone else anymore’.
  
  Well buddy - like it or lump it I’m afraid. If you hate yourself, go ahead and dump her. They won’t get any nicer. And even if you find a better girl, you’ll still be an *******.

  i guess my point is.. you can’t rush forever. You just have to take it one day at a time.. and if you rush it.. you’ll only disapoint yourself.. but.. you know.. good luck and everything.. I guess you’re in your young twenties right? So there’s really a lot of time ahead of you yet..

  We didn’t speak much but I just got banished from chat and it put me back in the ‘help zone’ and I’m really glad I did, because I came to your profile and read your story, about why you were so upset, and I hadn’t read that this morning when we chatted about ‘the end of the world’ , so I didn’t understand what was going on for you… I’m sorry, you seem very sweet.
  
  About ‘hating yourself for hating yourself’ - this is the worst cycle that any of us gets into because it is so absolutely utterly pointless and undermining.. and we all do it, I know.. I’m totally guilty of that myself and there’s no way out of it unless we know already how to deal with it, and I’ve got to be honest, I’m only just figuring out how to get through that looophole of logic that just says ‘there’s just me, and only me, and therefore I’m the only one to blame in this equation’ but the truth is, that’s not the truth!
  
  A lot of people on this site profess a belief in god and a lot of them are athiests too but I think we can all agree that we’re nothing without each other to reflect back to us who we are, what our values are and what we mean to each other as a group… for me, recently, I have to say that the only way out of that ‘trap’ of blaming myself for things I’ve failed at doing, is to quite consciously, in the mornings.. get up and pray for at least 5 minutes to whoever or whatever God there is in my life, and do the same thing in the evening.. maybe even for more time, sometimes half an hour …
  
  One of the best things for my self-esteem is to pray for the happiness of my family and friends.. even people who I don’t like. I picture them with a smile on their face and a laugh on their lips and all of a sudden, I don’t feel so bad about myself…
  take this opportunity, to realize that your friend and your teacher are looking down on you from ‘above’ and they love you SO much and all they want is for you to be happy.
  
  Neither of them would want you to be unhappy, and both of them would tell you not to blame yourself. Wherever they are now, believe that they understand a heck of a lot more about life and death than you do, and picture them smiling and happy in their new circumstance. Remember, none of us knows where we came from, and even the best guess can’t tell us exactly where we’re going, so take heart and face tomorrow with a strong faith in yourself ok?
  
  As for your brother.. I think that you must look at it in the same terms. I don’t know what he’s done, nor what you could have done to prevent his going to jail, but I tell you one thing, if you can picture him happy and free, with a smile on his face telling you ‘it’s okay now’ then when he gets out, whatever it is that he did.. he won’t be doing it again…
  
  There’s a prayer you know, I use this every day, and its one which, if your brother drinks, will probably know soon enough too. “Please grant me the courage to change what I can, the strength to accept what I cannot, and the wisdom to know the difference”… you know what I’m saying here? You don’t have to believe in god, but you do have to believe in something. Give it a try.. I promise you it’ll help, I’ve never been more sincere in my life.
