  Thanks again for your reply and interest. The child cannot leave Russia without the father’s permission. The father will not give permission without the debt being settled, either in cash or by Alina’s parents selling the apartment and giving them 33% of the money.
  
  ALL Russians who travel anywhere require visas to go to any other country, including former Soviet satellites like Belarus. I need a visa to travel there as well. Minsk is 10-12 hours by car from Novgorod. Alina’s best friend, Olga, is from a Belarussian family and visits there every two years or so.
  
  Why do you mention Minsk? Are you also Belarussian?
  
  Any help or suggestions you offer will be gratefully accepted, but we are aware of the realities of the situation. Perhaps you know others who could help you help us?
  
  Please keep bouncing ideas around. Something will eventually work. I believe, with all my heart, that God brought Alina and I together for a reason, and that reason was NOT for us to be frustrated. We are goosd together. We want to make children, even at my advanced age!

  Thank you for your interest and opinion. We have a lawyer. We are fighting now so that Alina and Sofia are not evicted from the apartment and the room in which she lives given to the ex-husband and his new wife and child. Imagine this: Alina’s parents living in the same apartment with her ex-husband and his family. In Russia, as stupid as it sounds, this is a real possibility.
  
  Believe me, I’ve made the same mistakes myself, suggesting hypothetical situations based on American standards into their courts. Russian law, very specifically, grants to him the share of the apartment he purchased with his money. Whether they were married or not makes no matter to the Russian courts. It was not HER money she put up, even though they were married. It was HIS.
  
  She cannot leave, nor can the child leave, until this matter is settled. In fgact, the child has some claim on this living place. He has to legally disinherit the child in order for her to simply leave the country. If he legally disinherits the child now then they will surely be sent to the streets. It has nothing to do with the eventual adoption.
  
  Unfortunately, it is not as clear as in American law and the woman’s rights are not in any way equal. It is all based omn who owned what and when.
