when in doubt, always blame the server! LOL — refering to your smoking ban in Las Vegas. I find myself constantly sending messages to my own shoutbox, instead of the intended recipient. Stupid server. Thanks for the info, though; although I hate to hear it. One of the best things about Las Vegas is the cheap buffets in the casinos!
Thanks for sharings those beliefs, I perceive both beliefs of self preservation and vengence bespeckled with something that God loves which is protection of the innocent. Nothing really out of the ordinary for a worldling, but an interesting way of putting it to words. Here are two I strive to live by because they are all inclusive:
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.
You mentioned a ‘lair’ and an ‘open territory’ what are the definitions of these or some clarification, I mean I understand lair as maybe your house or some online game, I really don’t know about open territory, would this be out on the street or in a mall or am I missing the whole meaning of your words, are they just fancy and imaginative or are they speaking of reality, or is it a way of wording it so that you can apply them to various circumstances?
I was on my bed contemplating my end…I did not believe in a God, I thought man created God so that man would act right. I wanted my end so that I could escape my pain…then He was in my room and from the many times I had heard it before He told me that I was a sinner going to Hell and that if I ended my life Hell would be my home and then to my surprise He showed me How he came to earth to pay the penalty( cheifly going to Hell) for my sins. I prayed agreeing that I was a sinner and asked that Jesus would forgive my sins and be my King. I agreed to turn away from my sins and turn to Him. His Spirit came upon me and as I lay in bed a snake, though I could not catch it to confirm it, crawled from my left foot. The enemy told me it would all be gone in the morning, but when I woke I asked “are you still here God” and He filled me with His Spirit again and I have never been the same, that was over 20 years ago.
No, I meant having the honor of you clicking me as your friend in Help.com. I was not concerned about having you as an enemy. I have many deep dark enemies. And if I have to restate it: The truth of the Bible is clear, I am created, I have a creator, what He said must be right because I can form no thought above Him or out-think Him because His thoughts are above my thoughts and His ways are above my ways.
Tell me, what wisdom or truth have you formed that has not been learned from others. I see nothing new in your thoughts. It is all recycled. I only like to bring out original unaltered quotes whenever possible. Is there anything wrong with quoting the perfect song lyric, or a poem, or the Bible at the right place in conversation or writing? To go to the original does not show a lack of wit, I think it rides along side wit. I think it reinforces an idea in most situations adds validity especially when you can give credit to the name of the person that originally said it, which I cannot in this case. Hey can we be friends? While you plainly are just a follower of this world system you seem to be a good thinker, maybe I can get some good quotes from you?
Don’t still feel bad about it. We both made mountains of mistakes. Just hope we both learned from them and got a better understanding about someone completely different.
Hey, I meant to ask: do you watch Metalopocalypse on the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim? I figure you would probably find it a laugh if you haven’t heard of it yet.
That’s an interesting idea: having fewer restrictions in certain discussion areas. I’ll mention that to Jeff and Erik at our next meeting. However, it would help if we get a sense from more users that this is something they want. So far, you’re the first to put this idea out there.
The one in ten rule is this. Go to busy establishment, preferably on a weekend night. Cut all small talk and be direct. Walk up to a girl and say “wanna go back to my place and (insert your own 4 letter expletive beginning with the letter “F” here)” 2, maybe 3 tops will smack you. But on average…..one in ten will say yes.
Preaching to the choir here. I’m really on your side here. You were right to say worshiping men is dumb. Also, I don’t think you actually crossed any bad lines in how you did it either. I only said anything at all because I just wanted you to be sensitive to the fact that a line even exists. I said the same to Elizabeth and that’s why she didn’t get into a shouting match with you once you disagreed with her on that second post. It’s okay to disagree. Just don’t make it personal, is the only ideal I’m trying to encourage.
You make a very good point about hate speech and people’s responsability to speak out against it. I definitely will come down on hate speech, but short of that I prefer to not interfere with people’s right to speak and feel comfortable giving their opinion. Elizabeth’s ideas are not popular, but I don’t see them crossing that line into outright hate speech, so I prefer to leave her alone. Elizabeth has her quirks, but I’ve seen over time that, at heart, she is very generous and really tries hard to help. We don’t want Help.com to exclude anyone who genuinely tries to help others.
I’d like Help.com users to feel that replies will answer their questions, so I try to limit arguments between repliers. It rarely helps the person ofriginally asking the question. I Also believe good advice stands on it’s own and you don’t need to actually argue it against any competing bad advice.
Anyhow, I don’t know how you feel about this, but that’s where my thinking is.
I’m in agreement with you on this post. http://help.com/post/16925/my-girlfri…
However try to avoid picking fights with Queen Elizabeth. You didn’t cross any lines, but you came close. Disagree with what she says, but try not mentioning by name who you are disagreeing with. That alone will keep the overall tone cool. In your own ways, you both add really good advice to the site, so I’d hate for either one of you to drive the other off Help.com.
