• I have always wondered this: What is real love?
  

  Below is an extract from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.
  
  It was a reading at my wedding recently.
  
  I think it sums it up really well. Note the difference between ‘love’ and ‘being in love’…

  That is just being “in love” which any fool can do.
  Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away,
  and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.

  and when all the pretty blossom have fallen from their branches,
  they find that they are one tree and not two.

  The application forms are a nightmare. What really annoys me is when you call the employer to discuss why you don’t have a reference from your current/previous employer, but they just tell you not to bother!

  I don’t believe this can be applied as a blanket to all situations in which you want to forget or move on from something. Sometimes, no one needs forgiveness, but rather, it’s just a terrible situation or sequence of events which left someone devastated.[/quote]
  
  Agreed, I was following on from ‘donteat’s’ reply. IF forgiveness is necessary, forgive yourself first.
  
  If it’s more as you describe then there is very little else you can do but give it time and try to actively engae in things which will give you happier memories. Tough one.
