Ok, Im not a women. But Ive given this advise before and no women has ever said I wrong by it. In fact many have complimented me for it.
When you engage a women in conversation, Ask her about her. Be interested in who she is. Even if you are shy, this works great. Get her talking about herself. Heres why it works……The one subject everyone is an expert on is themselves! Women often complain that guys arent interested in who they are, just how they appear. You will overcome that by being interested in her. Make sure you are paying attention, make eye contact and nod, even grunts to let her know you are listening.
If you can, make small humorous interjections. Women often complain guys take things too seriously. If you can make her laugh then she will think of you as a good guy to be with and around. Laughter=having a good time!
Dont be afraid to let her know you are ‘romantically’ interested. You dont want to be stuck in ‘friend zone.’ If shes telling you about herself and having a good time, your in…..

Heres a guys point of view. I appologize in advance for this will come across harsh.
Hes too chicken to tell you he doesnt want you anymore, so he’ll say things like hes not sure if you two are meant to be together. Or the problem is him, not you. He needs time to think, or space, or something like that.
Translation, I dont want to be with you anymore. I dont want to hurt you, but I dont feel we should be together anymore.
Basically it means that he doesnt love you. You didnt do anything to make him never want to talk to you again so he feels guilty. He knows breaking up will hurt you, so hes trying to break up without hurting you.

I read something very deep on this subject in of all places a Spiderman comic years ago. (it stuck with me….) The character Peter Parker has always wanted to abandon being Spiderman. One issue he talked to a friend about why he didnt want to give up helping people. He claimed that even those who were suicidal, the ones jumping off of buildings that he would save, would reach up to him for rescue.
I know its a comic, not real life. But it is writen by real people. I believe that the authors were trying to show the human spirit in that statement. No matter how bad things can get, we all want to get through those hard times. Sometimes, we just need to feel like someone cares.

Love grows, if you give it the chance.
Its easy to let the initial emotion take you over. But relationships that start off moving too fast usually end in a head on collision of adverse personalities.
If you truly want to get to know someone, you have to give it time.
I admire you. That you see this pattern in yourself. Not many people can see themselves in this way. I used to do the same thing with women. Move too fast and scare them away. When I saw in myself what you are seeing in you, I chose not to admit my ‘love’ to someone verbaly.
I had relationships that the lady would tell me she loved me very early on. I would tell her this, “I would be lying if I said I didnt have those feeling for you. But I cant tell you its true love without giving us a chance to grow a little together. Its too soon for me to confess that kind of love. What I do love about you is how I feel when Im around you, how you look at me, how you hold my hand….etc….give me a little time…I’ll get there….”

I believe we dont have a different point of view on what Christmas is truly all about. I also am Christian. My wife, son and I do say a prayer as a family before opening presents on Christmas morning.
I do believe that Christmas is over comercialized and taken advantage of by heartless corporations. My answer for my family. For every ornament or decoration that is “Santa Claus,” we also place one for Jesus. When my son is old enough to not believe in Santa anymore, those decorations will slowly go away. Thats my plan and Im sticking to it! :-)
Now for a deeper look into Christmas. Christmas is celebrated in one form or another by most people. Regardless of background. Even Athiests use it give presents. Now I understand they arent doing it for the reason you and I are, but does it make it wrong? If God loves all his children then it stands to reason that he even loves those who dont return his love.
But somehow, Christmas morning, even if it is through comercialization the majority of Gods children all share gifts. Sounds miraculous to me. That even the non-believers can get into the spirit of giving. Whether they know it, or realize it, they are acting Christ-like. Seems to me that God would smile upon even those who dont believe, like it would provide hope that one day they would turn to Him.

Wow, this post is old. Sorry for the late reply, but to answer your question,
No, I dont think that people lower their standards. I believe that younger people fall head over heals without taking into consideration a great many things. One of those things is that people arent perfect. When ‘their true love’ does something that they dont agree with or like, something that hurts their feelings, they assume that this person doesnt love them, and they are greatly hurt.
The older you get, the more experience you gain, the more you realize that even in true love, the other person is subject to error.
I could write a list of things that bug the hell out of me that my wife does, or doesn’t do. But I don’t try to change them. It is also her imperfections that make her who she is. I just accept that this is who she is and love her for it. So in the end, even though it can bug me, I love her imperfections! :-)

good point okei! But the people who are concerned with not having money to give presents are the ones who are wanting to be the givers, not recievers of gifts.
Doesnt that sound Christ-like to you?
should giving be synonymous with gifts/ material things?
aren’t the best things in life free?
like love, loyalty, support, care and empathy :p
Your right, Some of the best things in life are free. All of the things you mention are very important. Heres a short list of very important things that are not free;
A home
heating said home
food
pots and pans to cook with
electricity or gas to run your stove
electricity to run the refridgerator/freezer
transportation to and from work
Dont get me wrong, I would love to be able to provide those I love with nice things. Its just that this holiday season Im grateful for the things I have, and Im not letting the things I wish I had get me down.
Theres nothing wrong with wanting nice things, we work hard. Also, back to my original question….Whats wrong with wanting to give to those you love? Love, Loyalty, support, care and empathy I give my loved ones all the time. So what if I wish I could buy my son a Wii? How exactly is that wrong?
