I (try to) talk about race about the same as I talk about all other differences with my friends, like fears, personality differences, and boob sizes. I pick my words over in my head so not to say something completely stupid, but am pretty open otherwise.
I wouldn’t say “I’m hanging with my black friends” any more than I’d say “I’m hanging with my large-breasted friends.”
