  You said you are going through all this trouble not to hurt anyone.
  Why do you say that? You already hurt your first boyfriend, you hurt yourself, and ultimately not being in it 110% with your new boyfriend will hurt him. Also the longer you let this drag out the more everyone gets hurt. For all you know your ex is waiting for you and is hurt like crazy, but the longer you wait the less lucky your chances are of getting him back. Your dragging this all out and beating yourself up. Just tell your new boyfriend he is good, but you love your ex. He may hold on though so it is best for everyone that you cut ties with him for good.

  Hi, this is _______, we met a couple years ago at a concert in _________. You invited me backstage and I gave you a painting. A friend gave me your address a while back, but I never knew what to write so I pushed it aside. I was going through some papers the other day and stumbled upon it and decided it would not hurt to say hi.
  I was pretty nervous the night I met you, but I am glad we did. Until that night I had never let a work of art go, I wanted someone special to receive that first piece…

  We didn’t talk for a couple months then she contacted me. I expressed my feelings for her and she more or less said she isn’t over her ex (guy before me and the guy she went back to) and she doesn’t want to go out with anyone until she is. So again I feel pathetic and wish I just ignored her. I sent her a text today and she has yet to reply, I think I am just going to go back to silence and leave her in the past. I tried, nothing else I can do.

  I’ve talked to so many girls; everyone from the girl next door to movie stars. No one really does it for me though, she was the only person I’ve ever trusted and she threw it all away, and for what? When I think about what happened it makes me upset but I love her. Perhaps I just need to stop making excuses for her though.
