  Hi. I think that the only ones who can tell you whether this is a worthwhile pursuit are you and your wife. If this is something you think you’d both enjoy, talk to your wife about it… this will give you both a chance to think about the positives and negatives and also air any concerns you might have. Just the conversation about potentially doing it can bring you closer and make things more intimate (this is only true if you can both be vulnerable and open rather than letting your embarrassment or anxiety start a fight). It might feel weird to start the conversation, but honesty on both your parts will help. Maybe you can even talk first about talking about this sort of stuff to help ease you both in.
  
  If it turns out that you two decide that you’re not ready for that, maybe you can compromise and try watching some adult videos together, or giving your own lap dances to one another. There’s a whole world out there for the two of you to explore together. The key to finding what works for you both is open, and honest communication about your feelings and thoughts along the way… I hope this helps a little… :)

  Hey, it’s probably for the best that you don’t get into your parent’s arguments. You should not have to hear their sides of the story and you should definitely not be forced to choose a side. At 14 years old, it’s hard to travel on your own, and it can also be intimidating to disagree with your parents. If you feel that you would like to see your father, though, you should speak up and tell your mother that this battle is between them and not you. Tell her that you need to see both your parents, and that their divorce is really hard on you. Hopefully she will hear you and concede… if she does not, however, you might consider talking to your school counselor about it.
  
  (If there is any abuse involved, that changes the picture, and your mom would be right to keep you away from your dad.)

  That’s a really hard situation for both of you and for her parents. You should have a conversation with your girlfriend about how you would like to be there for her. Ask her how you can help her the most. Maybe it’s just by listening to what’s on her mind, or maybe it’s by just sitting quietly and holding her. Only she really knows what she needs right now. The only thing I can say not to do is speak badly about her parents to her. Even if she says something negative about them, just listen. If you begin putting them down, it could make her upset with you… I know it sounds weird, but it happens. Good luck!!

• Should help be deserved?
  

  Wow… I’m amazed at what I’ve read here. I expected that someone would have come forward and said something positive about a society that aims to support everyone. Instead, I hear “Darwinian” arguments against helping others based on “deserving it”?? Deserving help does not come into the equation here. There may be some people who claim a disability when they don’t have one, or who try to milk the system for all it’ll give them, but these people should not affect the level of help that we give to people in need. Further, they should not engender a bitterness that translates into anger toward all people with a disability (it’s kind of like racism or sexism).
  
  Taking from the example above, if someone has dyslexia or an autism spectrum disorder, they are going to learn things and process information differently from people who do not have these conditions. Thus, the educational system was (perhaps poorly) constructed to help people learn in the ways that they learn. Testing is another example of they way that the educational system is set up for people who learn in one manner. Not everyone can take tests… even some people without disabilities, who are perfectly capable of acing a test, do poorly on tests because they don’t process information that way.
  
  Anyway, a society is only as strong as its weakest link… a society that works to support everyone (fairly) is the ideal. Unfortunately, society is made up of imperfect people and those people sometimes take advantage of others, or pretend that others don’t exist so that they don’t have to deal with them.
  
  Bottom line: everyone should do what they can to help others, disability or no, and be more tolerant of differences.

  I think that only people can be blind, because the blinded stage of a relationship is more lust and attraction than it is true love. In the beginning, people are blinded to one another’s flaws. Eventually, however, people begin to see one another’s flaws and they have to reconcile and accept them in order to move into a mature and true state of love. Thus, love is only present once one is no longer blinded to the other person. How can one person love another if they do not see them for who they are?

  Talk things through… let him know how you feel and why you feel that way, and find out how he feels and why. There could be some confusion raised by living together; it’s a rather intimate move to make, especially after living far away from one another. So, make sure that all questions and confusions are asked and answered to the best of your ability. Otherwise, one or both of you might be walking around with questions in your head that make you resent the decision or each other.
  
  It’s also not unreasonable to begin talking about where your relationship is going… talk about marriage and everything that it entails (not all in one day of course). If you’re each taking steps to become more intimate and close in your relationship, marriage may be a next commitment for you to make. Just don’t jump in too quickly.
  
  Your boyfriend will welcome all of this conversation to ensure that you are each making the right decisions for yourselves, as long as he truly cares about you. If he refuses to talk about these things, he’s either not ready or he’s unsure how deeply he cares for you… either way, take it as a warning that you may not be ready to give yourself to him this way.
