• um, like is anorexia bad?
  

  A very dear friend of mine became anorexic in Grade 5. She was 11 years old. We were on a class trip to Quebec City, and we saw how far gone she was. She hardly ever ate. We would try to get her to eat more than a forkful of undressed salad, or a small spoon of lasagna. We tried to get her to eat, and ended up telling one of our teachers, who we trusted, about it. The girl ended up in hospital after she collapsed while crossing a street, a month after we got back from Quebec. She had to be fed through tubes in her nose, and had to miss about a year of school. That was five years ago. She still has major health problems and had to repeat a year in school because she spent so much time in hospital. It’s not fun, for friends to see, or people to live. Bulimia and Anorexia are both terrible things for people to go through. Please, don’t do that to yourself. I send my best wishes to all those who have been affected by eating disorders, and I hope you’re healthy.

  Sweetheart…don’t kill yourself. If not for yourself, then for others. People who know you and love you and will be incredibly sad if you go. Everyone has someone who cares. And from someone who has come very close to dying…it is very scary. It made me realise how much life still has to offer. Please, think of the people around you as well, and how they will be affected if you kill yourself, think of their anguish and their feelings when they think that they perhaps could have changed something. THink about your children…do you want them to grow up without a father/mother? Do you want them, if they’re old enough, to live with the guilts and the anxiety that they may have caused it? They love you and look up to you, and if you leave them behind, whatever happens when one dies, I believe that you would regret it. And they will pine for you. It’s not worth it. I’ve seen a child cry until she could hardly see straight and until her tears literally dried up because her father killed himself. She was 5. Her brother was 16. He purposefully crashed his car tend ays later, because he thought that he had caused his father’s suicide. He survived, but he is still extremely violent and depressive. Think of them when you consider killing yourself.
  
  If you feel like you are about to kill yourself, call a suicide helpline, call a friend, a neighbour, go play with the kids, sit in the sun in a park, go buy groceries, anything, bu keep yourself busy. Depression is fuelled by loneliness and spare time. Love yourself, and love others. Some of us do care.
  
  Live. There is so much to life.

  That really sounds like me. Actually. But my father has not been diagnosed with BPD. I have incredibly massive mood swings, am working on stopping self-injury, binge eat, and generally feel crazy.   That sounds terrible…I would love to help, but I don’t really know what to do. If you’re in Quebec, I know you can get some financial support and also some help for your son if he is ill, so that you don’t have to worry about medical bills as much.
  I know there are also some associations that come in anonymous aid of people who need it. I wish you the best of help. Keep it going.
