2009-12-06 21:49:57 on Just got dumped and cant sleep any ideas?
There are many things that can help induce sleep. For starters, warm milk. It sounds a little gross, but it tastes great if you mix in a little honey. This can be substituted with sugar, not quite as good, but it’s still good none the less. Anyways, when milk is heated, it has these enzymes that catalyze and release a chemical that is used in both sedatives and tranquilizers. The heat also helps. If you take a bath or eat something hot before bed, well as your body cools down, your mind will slow, as well as your heart, and everything else, and you will sleep more easily. Soft music can help too, just keep it very very low.
Personally, I would go with this advice. When you awake, you will be able to deal with your feelings in the light of day, which is usually more conducive to making a new plan for your future. You will indeed hurt, but you will recover and move on, to find a more satisfying relationship.
2009-12-03 13:50:26 on Are you Disappointed in someone?
I think we often form an opinion about a person’s character too quickly, especially when there is a physical attraction to the person. We listen to what someone says and fail to observe their behavior over a reasonable length of time. Then, when their behavior does not match our expectations, we are disappointed.
What Cell said is true. “Hurt people hurt people.” To expand on that thought: a person needs to spare themself disappointment by not investing too heavily in a relationship with a person who will hurt you.
2009-11-30 19:43:13 on I dated this girl for a couple of months and she broke up with me becasue she just wanted to be friends.
If you have not talked in person with her about this, it’s time to do so. Every individual has their own timing habits on replying to questions, but that is where compromise comes into play.

Addressing the long term user thing special rules rule… wipe the slate clean every year.
I agree.
That would be a semi-permanent ban. Not a bad idea.

2009-11-30 19:16:07 on Say your a moderator, and you ban someone temporary
Temporary bans for any post or reply that violates the T.O.U. are appropriate. No warnings, because the user has already agreed to those terms. Repeat offenses should be met with a permanent ban. If a user has been permanently banned, that means forever. All users should be treated equally.

Your boyfriend is young and even though you feel that his current interest are set in stone, he may surprise you with his ability to appreciate new things. I am going to go out on a limb and suggest a few things. Try to keep an open mind while you go over the list. You should know though, that helpers get discouraged if all suggestions are rejected.
1. a nice book about any of his interests.
2. a tool for mecanical work. Young men eventually need their own tools.
3. a photo of the two of you together.
4. a poster for a wall in his room.
5. a cool flashlight. I’ve never met a guy who didn’t like a nice, new flashlight.
6. a coupon good for a meal at your house, cooked by you.
7. movie tickets.
2009-11-30 09:36:16 on Ugh help me, i’m selfish, narcissistic but also self loathing, i dont have any really friends and i cant change the way i am.
Of course you can change. When you have a minute or two, just read some of the posts on this website and jump in to offer support to someone in need. There is nothing better than helping someone else if you want to turn your life around. Give it a try. You have much to gain and nothing to lose.
2009-11-30 09:30:32 on I have been best friends with the same woman since 7th grade.
Rather than dump this friend, maybe you could be as honest with her as you have been on this post. Some relationships are worth saving and as you get older you will appreciate one that has passed the test of time. Your friend may be stuck in a selfish mode right now, but that may be the result of immaturity. If you point out to her that your time is more limited now than when you were younger and that you need a friendship that is based on common interests and not just a celebration of her interests, she may change her behavior.
I have friendships that have lasted more than fifty years. I am grateful every day that I have a few girlfriends who remember when I was a beautiful, bright-eyed 7th grader. Many modifications have been made on both sides of my relationships with these friends over the years. I encourage you to make the effort.

How about an I.D. bracelet, engraved with a sweet sentiment?
he’d lose it.
Well, that’s the great thing about an I.D. bracelet; if the right inscription is engraved, it would probably be returned to him.
