I checked back to see if the youngster had received the help that he needed and came across your replies. I thought that you might like to know that there are mature helpers here.
My job was to keep 3,000 kids in class and keep the drug dealers and other bad guys off campus. Teachers no longer wish to deal with discipline matters so I worked with the administrators to deal with disruptive students. The percentage of students in need of our attention was quite small.
Your volunteer work sounds interesting. With your experience, you will be able to make valuable contributions to the users of this website.

Well, it’s probably very obvious…but how did you know I was not a “teen?”

How hard to go to a HS that needed a security crew. Maybe they all do, now; but I went to school in a very small town.

I volunteer, too. I have been a foster parent in the past, but I need to wait until my own are older to continue.

Also, I work for CASA (court appointed special advocate) as an advocate for kids.

Also, volunteer for a political party and once in awhile for a women’s shelter.

I have not been visiting help.com for very long, but I am enjoying it. I am not very checked out when it comes to computers, either. That is one area where the kids can be very helpful. I worked as a campus security supervisor at a high school for more than 10 years. Now that I am retired, I do volunteer work as a mentor for teen moms.

Sorry I am not so sure about the whole “shout” thing…or the whole computer thing at all. I am relatively naive with the computer stuff…but I am learning and having a blast. I hope you are back on here someday (I am relatively new to “help,” and don’t know who all are “regulars”). Hopefully you will get this message.

In what capacity have you been helping teens for many years?

I enjoy more mature users, as well. I talked for awhile last night with TJ, who is on here. He is older. I asked him if there was a site like this for adults; and he said that question has been asked alot, but as far as he knows, there is not.

FYI I am 60+ years old, but I have been helping teenagers for many years. Still, I enjoy responces and posts from more mature users.
