Thanks for the compliment. As I understand it, CNET sold the site to CBS a few months ago. Since then, there has been very little support for the website. There has been a letter writing campaign. Here is a link to the post: http://help.com/post/307269-if-you-ar…
Unfortunately, some kids got a bit off topic, so I think the post was closed, but you can still get the contact information from it.
With the popularity of social networks these days, the users who were mostly here to make friends, have begun to congregate elsewhere. Those of us who wish to help others, are still around. Some of us do both.
Thank you for the update. I had no idea CBS now owns this site. What happened to CNET? If I come across a new user they will not have an avatar? When did they begin that? I saw Jeff’s avatar on the front page. He was responsible for most of what we enjoyed here. It would be great if CBS would lure him back. Last I heard Jeff had found a job in Europe. He was so responsive to the users requests. Sorry I never had the chance to interact with you before. Maybe I would not have left. Nice to talk with you. Carol
Some of the regular users have changed names and avatars, but many got discouraged because help.com had not been maintained properly and just left. I think you left during the time I was a quiet observer of the website. It took me a while to actually decide to participate, but I remember your avatar and admired your replies.
I have not changed my avatar, but I did add the dash between the c and the first e in my screen name.
Unfortuately, the new users are not able to choose an avatar so it is more difficult to get to know them. We are hoping that CBS will decide to give some attention to the site, because some of the features we used to have, are no longer working.
Hi c-eek, Thank you so much for the welcome back. I have not seen many names I recognize. Did you go by another before c-eek? Could this be why not many seem familiar? They change their usernames? Anyway, it is very nice to hear from you and I enjoyed your vote of confidence. Thank you. What has happened to the old crowd? Carol
Welcome back. You have been away for a long time and returned just in the nick of time. As you may know, many very good helpers have left the site. We need you, here.
