Oh, sorry, long last shout….

What are playing on guitar at the mo? And what are you reading? It’s great when you are really into a book and have to fight to put it down. Read ‘The Kite runner’ over the summer which was good, also, last year read ‘The Book Thief’ which was just soooo good. Loved the style, feeling…was a good read and would recommend it.
If you haven’t read ‘Birdsong’ by Sebastian Faulks ( been out a few years) then do…..

Plans for the weekend? Kids stuff, park etc.. and also
going to go to the driving range….yeah, I’m a girl, but like golf and my boys do too. Playing a round with my brother in law in a couple of weeks and thought I should get a bit of practice in or I will be really bad (not god anyway :)!) Such a good game…physical, mental and everyone who plays is so congratulatory and positive about everyone else. Not intimidating, just great fun!

Well, I haven’t got anything major planned yet. I know I definitely want to relax a bit. I also want to try and work on a few of my songs for my guitar. I’ve started reading a new book, which I’m really getting into.

I’m sure I probably find a lot of other things I want to do. Do you have any plans for the weekend?

Thanks for your positive words :) and supportive comments. I just really hate the feeling that I’ve upset someone, a friend, and can’t seem to get to speak to them to resolve it or explain myself. I can’t excuse it, but just want to explain why it happened.

He did leave a quick msg to say he wasn’t around today, so will now leave it for the weekend and speak on mon…..well, just have to see how it goes. Like you said, if they’re a good friend they’ll forgive, I would if it was me.

Anyway, enough of that! Have you got good plans for the weekend? To counteract your busy week?

Although I left a few v apologetic msgs yesterday, still haven’t managed to speak to friend yet, but did get a msg from him this morn cause he’s not around today to speak. So, hopefully will be ok. Maybe I’m over reacting, things have been a bit stressful round here recently, which he’s aware of so hopefully will go easy on me.

I think (no, I know) I really messed up today, feel quite awful, because I may have lost a friend through a defensive comment I made to them this morning :( but sincerely hope not. Was a relatively new friend (about one and a half years or so) but one of those good ones. Hoping to sort it out tomorrow.

Classed as medium standard, not particularly hard, some bits a bit tricky, but just really quite hard for me at points, working it out on my own :)! Slow progression…!

I know! So many fab instruments, so many great sounds, just not enough time. Have a go at Time, may surprise yourself, just such a lovely riff and the vocals…. think I’ll have to go and have a listen!

Funny you say that about saxophone, I find guitar so hard, but then I’m used to woodwind and that type of instrument.

Trying to teach myself Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonnata at the mo on piano…mmm, going slowly….

I would LOVE to learn to play Time, but I don’t think I’m good enough yet. However, I haven’t actually tried it yet so I might try it after I’ve completed some of my current songs. It’s a great song and can make me feel sad as well.

The recorder was the first instrument I ever learned as well. I hated it as well. I moved onto the treble recorder, which wasn’t as bad. I actually considered learning how to play the saxaphone, but found out that it is apparantly more difficult that the guitar. I would have thought the flute was a good instrument.

I think the piano is an amazing instrument and always get jealous of piano players. I start listening to music with piano pieces in it and I just want to start learning it. However, there are only so many hours in the day and days in the week.

Stairway to heaven and Wish you were here, nice choices. Like Time too (Floyd), but makes me feel sad…

Anyway, learn’t music thro education but really wanted to cause I loved it. In primary school was plucked out and asked if I wanted to learn something other than recorder (such a horrible thing) and said yes please, take me out of this hellish sound… Asked if I could learn the saxophone but was turned down (they didn’t have anyone who could teach..) went thro a few other options which were declined and ended up with ……THE FLUTE, dear me! I could count on one hand the number of pieces that warrant a flute.

But, know how to read music, know what I like and have since learnt to play the piano, and that is one great instrument! I’m not that specific about the types of music I like, if it’s interesting, got a good riff, maybe a few different sounds, then it’s worth a listen..

So what sort of music do you like to play? I’ve always wanted to play the guitar, but when I tried I found it really hard to reach round the neck! Well, with acoustic anyway, electric easier cause slimmer…but still no good . Can’t get a grasp on strings(didn;t learn string instruments) and strumming/plucking, idk, just cant seem to do it/feel what to do.

Grew up learning music, so can read etc and know what to do…just didn’t grow up with an instrument of choice….Guitar is great, keep it going, is just a great versatile instrument. Acoustic particularly

I wouldn’t worry about reading music too much (unless it’s just one of those you want to accomplish) Guitar is one of those instruments you can get away with not being able to read.

Also you can print tabs off the internet, Ultimate-guitar.com is supposed to be pretty good, but you probably already know that.

Well, all weekends can’t be a thrill a minute, but if it went ok and you’re happy with it, then all’s good. Maybe it’s just me, but sometimes it’s nice just to potter along, take time to do things at a slower pace and just be.

Keep it going, sounds like you’re doing a good job. You also seem to enjoy what you do, which is great. So many people work at things they don’t like or couldn’t care less about, it’s a real bonus to find something you like and are good at it.

I’m not sure what it’s called either (prob more on the abstract side cause it’s not realism or impressionistic), but I don’t really care for names ….

I’m actually not subject driven when it comes to art and what I like, I just really like looking at how someone has put marks down on a page, or arranged things. I like installation work a lot too, things that engage you and make you interact.

I’d really like to see something you have done, if you want to show it..?

I know what you mean, when something is part of your history/story it takes a shove to show it to anyone. When I was in Art college, I hated the critiques we would have to do, i.e. stand up and show what we were doing and talk about it. I’d worked before, had been to uni, done presentations, but these critiques terrified more than anything I’d stood up and talked about before. Literally my hands used to shake but bizarrely felt relatively calm inside (?!), just couldn’t describe what I’d done on paper….

Glad you liked them, considering I have no idea what sort of art you like…. What do you like?

Yeh it’s quite difficult and tedious. Charities get a lot of tax breaks and what not so it’s necessary to ensure that the organisation isn’t just trying to gain charitable status to become exempt from tax or whatever I guess.

That’s really cool, I’m glad your enjoying it! I’ve started a new job also in case I haven’t told you, I’m working in a bookies now. It’s the coolest job I’ve had so far, it pays well, the people are all really cool, it’s interesting work and I get to watch lots of sports!

Painting ideas….could go on a bit there but, briefly, have always liked abstract, a while back did a few architectural pics, just picking out interesting lines and arrangements, but more recently have experimented with portraits and just painting faces that are barely there, difficult to explain….if I manage to work out how to send an email with pics attached I’ll send it. Want to combine monoprinting with paint and maybe some collage….maybe back on the architectural theme though. Will just get some paper out on Monday and see what happens. I like having some sort of starting point but then it changes and it’s great just going with whatever happens. Nice journey really…
