  How it works in the US is that AFTER you try and kill yourself, you can get moved to the front of the line–if you survive that is. If you’re poor with no insurance, you’re just out of luck.
  Talking to someone is not going to do any good in my case. I’ve tried and tried to work myself out of the situation I’m in and just seem to be running in place. Now I see my kids about to start down this same road and I can’t see that for them. I want them to succeed and the only way to do that in the US is with a degree of some sort. A degree that is out of reach for people without money.
  Oh, one college did offer to let her come and go to their school with them loaning her the money…but when we added up how much it will cost, she would be close to $30,000 in debt when she got out with that degree.

  No one seems to understand that I have been trying everything I know to work all this out. I work and work-so do the kids-and all we are able to do is scrape by. We all work at least 1 job at fast food resturants so we can eat there for free on the days we work there–at home, we have roman noodles…and if they raise the price on those again, we wont have that. gas prices are killing us…got paid last Monday from one of my jobs-cleared $96 and it took $52 to fill the car up with gas. electricity doesn’t get paid until we get cutoff notice, same with the phone. I keep thinking I’ll catch up one day…but that day never comes. I’m so tired. I don’t want this type of life for my kids. This is the only solution I have. Ex and I were only children and there is no extended family. Social Services is a joke. I’m just at my wits end…

  Both of my kids know of our financial problems. We have all been working and trying to make ends meet. My daughter is very UNselfish, she never complains or anything like that. She didn’t go to prom, or senior trip, she didn’t get a copy of her senior year book–those things are not necessary. The shoes in question, are the ones the school has decided all seniors must wear to look uniformed at graduation. Its not a choice of want, its a choice of need so that she can walk across the stage and except her graduation certificate like any other senior. Any other time, I would have gone to goodwill to see what they have…this isn’t the case for these shoes.

  All of us work…all jobs are part time, because this is college town and employers don’t want to pay benefits like insurance. It just a feels like its never enough

  Stimulas check that Bush said would kick start economy to rebound…what he doesn’t realize is that most of us won’t be spending it…will just be paying past due bills
