  Excuse me! I am 18 in May, just like her, are you trying to say i don’t have the emotional maturity to know whether or not i love someone, age doesn’t matter!!!!
  My best friends parents are 15 years apart and my mum and step-dad are 10 years apart, my friends parents have been together since her mother was a teenager!!!

  My personal belief is that you just KNOW, like an undeniable truth. You feel differently towards that person than anyone else in this world.
  
  A rather cynical, but somewhat true veiw on love is one Charles Dickens describes:
  “…It is blind devotion, unquestioning self-humiliation, utter submission, trust and belief against yourself and against the whole world, giving up your whole heart and soul to the smitter…”
  
  I don’t completely agree with it though. Love feels wonderful, but can hurt more than anything.

  Again, stealing another persons words, but true. Lust may feel like love, but cannot be confused, some people always want what they can’t have and once they get it, it fades with time as it isn’t what they expect it to be.

  For a start, although you are highly mature for your age, you shouldn’t be thinking about that sort of stuff. I personally believe that if a person’s ready, it shouldn’t matter about age, but you can’t just throw it away because you like the experience. My mum was raped as a teenager and so she taught me the importance of losing your virginity to the right person at the right time.
  Many people have experiences similar to yours at your age, but it doesn’t mean it’s right. In fact, over here in the UK, they are trying to lower the legal age from 16 to 14 because so many people just ignore the law.
  I can relate to the whole party scenario because i often throw house parties, but usually i keep an eye on everyone, trying not to get drunk myself. I know how horny people can get when they’re drunk for a number of reasons. That’s when my ex cheated on me.
  If you’re contemplating suicide, you should talk to someone or get help. It’s not good and can only get worse if you feel there’s nobody to turn to.
  This ‘Dave’ sounds like a complete snake/player. He seems like although he has a girlfriend, he is trying to get close to your sister, and worse - you!
  It’s awful to hear of your injuries, but i hope they serve as a reminder how awful things will get if you don’t seek help.
  My little sister keeps out of the way at my parties, and she is about your age, but she wouldn’t go near the older guys. The fact you had a condom isn’t only explainable, it’s sensible and he should have known that.
  I believe that if he tells you to wait one minute and then tries it with you the next, he is a hypocrite and you should feel no sympathy for him.
  The fact that you kissed him back means that you had some desire for him, but you should not neccessarily act on your desires. The fact that you were drinking, probably made you more loose, but the moment you resisted, you should have got the message.
  How drunk he was depended on the amount he consumed, sometimes it can take hours, sometimes it’s almost instant.
  You should not have felt guilty as he was being a complete pervert!
  And you shouldn’t feel you can’t talk about it if you want to. He doesn’t rule you.
  Sorry to hear you can’t sleep, just try to stop worrying.

  I think what’s mainly stopping you from understanding me is you don’t want to, and you’re hurt. But you got Iain in the end, you should be at least happy and not-to-bothered if not over it. I’m not claiming to have wisdom beyond years… I’m just saying that something, maybe maturity, maybe not is driving something between us. You’ll probably say it’s me. You might not have changed, Jennifer, but you’ve changed towards me. That’s what gets me. There was a you i knew, in the way you acted towards me, and i just don’t see that anymore…
  
  I don’t know if my explainations will help you to understand, but i’ve said it now. I’m not defending myself, i’m not saying i’m not in the wrong, but nor am i saying you’re completely in the right. Anyhow, i think i’ve said all i need to.

  Sorry i’ve changed.
  But that’s a part of growing up.
  
  I can explain how i have consciously changed and why:
  - Depressed attitude: I hate people thinking i’m an emo etc, and i hate burdoning my then-friends with my downers, so i’ve just been casual and offhand when i’m uset about something and don’t tell them anymore. Perhaps that makes me seem distant or cold, i don’t know, but that’s one change and a reason. I won’t say why i became like that, because i don’t want to look like i’m trying to guilt trip anyone.
  - Empathetic-ness: Somehow, when i made my problems my own business, rather than other peoples, i couldn’t quite feel the real weight of their problems like i used to. I still listened and advised when they asked me to, but i couldn’t connect on that emotional level like i used to… maybe that makes me seem like i don’t care, i don’t know.
  - Selfishness: Yes, this is perhaps the one that is winding people up the most, but since i took the big fall, i was miserable, sick of pining over something that never meant what i thought it did to begin with, and i just wanted to be happy… In some ways, the only way i could do that was to be selfish and put myself first. Sure, i’ve always been slightly selfish, but people seemed to take Lowell on a whole new level… he annoyingly has that effect ¬¬.
  - Consequences: It was a stupid mentality to get into, but it’s hard to get out of now. Basically, i don’t care much about the consequences of my actions anymore, which means they are bound to backfire on me. I just kind of went… i don’t know, it was a coping method. But now i can’t make it go away. :(
  
  Perhaps, saying that because you were immature you don’t understand me is the wrong idea… the fact that i’m reading to start trying to live an adult life at uni just puts that extra bit of tension in there. And i guess on some level, although i know you are just hurt and dealing with it in your own way, i see the way you’re acting about the Lowell situation as immature. You’re with Iain, and if you’re not using him, and he actually means something to you, then it shouldn’t matter that i’m with Lowell…

• I’m worried about a friend
  

  For a start, anything i’ll say here, i’ll say to people’s faces, and about 7 months ago, when this was all on my mind, i did say it to both Any and Steven. I only come here because it was a private place to vent, because nobody wants to listen to people whine in the real world, and if i don’t get stuff off my chest and sort out my head i either lash out at people or myself.
  
  As i said, everything i’ve posted here, i’ve pretty much told the people involved, unless it was something completely uneccessary and they didn’t ask or need to know. The people making a big fuss are just being immature and all of this is happening over a boy. It’s so pointless, but i’ll leave everyone to make up their own minds, because anyone who doesn’t see that isn’t worth my time.
