  So I could go AWOL, lose all of my rights, and have to wonder, how long until I get pulled over. That’s a possibility.
  
  She is in the Army too. She was in the Army when I married her. We knew it was always a possibility of one us getting deployed, and well, it happened, and it has sucked on us both.

  No. I have about a 3% of actually getting a discharge.
  
  That’s the way the Army is. I signed a contractual obligation to the Army. They are serious issue with people just breaking the contracts.
  
  The compassionate reassignment is a likelihood, about 75% of it happening. I have to know where she is going. I have to have a chance of fixing it to make it happen. I have rededicated myself, to my family. I have put them on the backburner for so long, and now I think I am screwed.
  
  Most likely, yes. A portion of my retirment will go to the wife if we get divorced. She keeps avoiding the question when I ask if that is what she wants. Right now she keeps telling me she just wants to try something new to find happiness.

  Actually, SSG Foster isn’t who is on most of those links.
  
  I am in the United States Army. I am not a normal job. I cannot walk in and hand them my 2 weeks notice and that be it. There are 13 different kinds of chapters in the Army. At the time, I have a very very slim chance of pushing my luck and getting a medical chapter. I do not qualify for a hardship (family) discharge because I am not with the kids right now. I do not qualify and will not try to qualify for a convenience of the Army, Mental Health discharges. I do not qualify for pregnancy discharge. Completion of service, I’ll qualify for in 5 years, 4 months.
  
  Oh, and as I was told the other day, the Army does not care if my marriage ends.
  
  As for me being in love with my wife, I thought I wasn’t. I knew I loved her, but I didn’t feel the spark. I was lieing to myself. My shutting down was a defense. And it is totally common for a guy to shut down the last few days. It’s called coccooning. I am not making excuses, but it is something psychological about leaving for the second time in under a year.
  
  I am not giving in, I am not using the Army as an excuse. I am merely stating the facts. My next real hope would be a compassionate reassignment to where ever she is going, but I need to know where she is going. I was told by my supervisor’s supervisor that he would help me get a compassionate reassignment, but it takes 3 months on average to get approval.

  I have 5 years, 4 months left on my contract. I reenlisted after getting over here, to pay for Invitro Fertilization, and we needed to get some stuff for the house. I was also planning on putting some away into the 10% interest savings account they got for us over here. She has about 20 months left on hers.
  
  I have looked at ways of trying to get out, but paying back that kind of money would keep me in for about 7 months with no pay due.
