Robert, Alina and Sofia are a beautiful family. Robert and Alina met in Russia when Robert was there on business. Their’s is a story of great love and great sacrifice. They did not meet via the Internet nor is Alina one of those “mail order brides” one often hears about. They met, fell in love, sustained their love over the miles with telephone calls and texting and have enjoyed several visits back and forth durign the last three years.
Alina is college and conservatory educated. She speaks English fluently, is healthy, wants to work and will not be a burden to American society. Sofia is learning English and is excited to come to our country. Robert is well-educated, but working two jobs outside his field to try and make enough money to support his family. There has been no way to save anything because of bills and immediate, everyday needs.
Alina and Sofia were abandoned by her ex-husband when Sofia was thirteen months old (August, 2002). They live with Alina’s parents. The ex-husband still owns part of this apartment and Alina and Sofia cannot leave Russia to be with Robert until this is paid.
Robert is desperate to find someone who will co-sign for a loan or loan this money outright. Gifts will, of course, be accepted, but we would rather have a relationship with some generous person who has a guarantee that they will get their money back. We need a hand-up, NOT a handout. We need $35,000 to make all this go away and to be together.
