  Dear New Friends Mas and Richard.. Let me soak up all this great information and advice. Richard, networking is a great idea. I have noticed that I haven’t been “out there” a whole lot due to family and etc. I need to form more acquaintances and friendships outside my comfort zone. Having children tends to pull me away from that a bit. Also, mas1s, thanks for the advice about having a brutally honest appraisal of my resume. I think I may need to have someone go over it with a fine tooth comb and point out areas where improvement is needed. It almost seems as if this job hunting is like a game. And if you don’t know how to play it, you are at a disadvantage. To be honest, I hate games, I just want to work…but I concede that I must play in order to survive.

  My proficiency is in the cellular phone industry and in sales training/mgmt and customer service. I would like to find something in that field, but am open to anything right now. I also have a B.S. in Accountancy and have passed the CPA exam so I have accounting skills as well. Working on my own was a good learning experience, the problem is that I was dependent on sales for income. My sales income isn’t keeping up with my living expenses. As a result, I am looking for steady work to pay the bills that I have and to put food on the table for my children.

  I have been away from the job market for awhile trying to discover working on my own, but the economy has made things difficult. My age is 40 and maybe too old for many employers to consider. Also mentioning that I have 3 children and single may be a liability in the job hunting process.
