  I believe that everything happens for a reason. People also do things and sometimes very strange and/or hurtful things to each other also for a reason. Sometimes that reason is not even consciously known by the person doing the hurting.
  
  If you have no real reason to distrust him, you may be creating a self fulfilling prophecy.
  
  You can see past as being a player in more than one way.
  a) Hes a player and will never change.
  b) He was looking for something and found it.
  c) He was building up his ego but has since discovered the beauty of a meaningful relationship.
  
  We all have deep emotional needs that we may not even be aware of. If both of you can fulfill each other’s needs on that level then I would not worry about him cheating on you. You need to discuss what your needs are. And more importantly, you should both be individually happy with yourself. Please never expect a partner to fulfill your shortcomings or fill a void. Fulfilling needs are good but expecting a partner to fill a void that has been left by the shortcomings of our parents and childhoods will only spell disaster in the long run…

  I really understand what you mean and I’m glad you are so objective about it. Most people would just blindly follow it and think that this new man is the answer to all their prayers.
  
  It sounds like you still love your husband, but you sound very practical and objective about your emotions. Do you normally make most of your decisions with well thought our logic or do you follow your feelings?
  
  Has your husband considered going for counseling to find out why he reacts this way?

  Penguin…Well thats why we are here. You can talk to use. Some of us had similar experiences and have overcome them or are also in a process of addressing these issues. You can feel assured that you are not alone. I psychologist once told me, even though your circumstance may be different from others, the hurts are the same.
  
  Rain falls on the good and bad. That is just the way it is. Bad things can and will also happen to you even when you live right and have the right attitude etc. The goal however is to be happy and at peace within yourself. When a crisis situation presents itself, (which it will) you will know how to embrace, accept it and deal with it appropriately, instead of it throwing you back into depression, self loathing and suicide. I know because I’ve been there a lot.
  
  There is a reason why you have not been able to get the job done. The answer may lie in 2 places. 1 - Within yourself. 2 - In the Godly realm.
