2008-06-13 14:21:17 on I’m just starting to deal with this…
Nothing weird about it not getting things figured out for so long after an incident like this. I’m 45 and still trying to figure out ways in which my childhood/adolescence have made me who I am and in what ways I would change as a result of what I know.
If you’re strong enough to have found you want to delve in more, you’re strong enough to go through the experience of counseling and see what you learn about yourself there.
2008-06-13 14:12:33 on So…do you think counselors are really all they’re chalked up to be?
I have an MS in Counseling. I think I can say for certainty that all counselors are differently equipped to handle such a trauma.
I would suggest talking to the county human services or local rape crisis center if you have one. They should know about counselors/psychologists in your area who have a good record of dealing with such issues.
No two people will have the same experience with the same counselor. You are a consumer of services: you have the right to say you want someone different than the person who was recommended. They have a right to do their best, but to fail your needs. It’s scary to trust someone else with smaller issues.
However, that being said, if I had insurance, I’d go. One of the major things they should tell you is that this incident cannot be easily separated from everything else in your life and how you feel about it. This is why it could be important to go.
2008-06-13 13:51:38 on This poem was written months ago but I am still unsure how I feel about it.
Helpfulbelle–
With a poem, or any other bit of writing, there’re often question marks in my brain regarding the effectiveness of what I’ve written, could it be pared down more, are there areas that will or will not need expansion due to the feeling and/or idea being accessible to a reader. If I’m stuck or impatient, I often show poems to others to get a feeling for whether or not they’re finished.
Pseudoniem–
The end and Judgment Day are the same thing–but more metaphorical than historical. You don’t find me putting myself among the souls who vanish from the worldly plane and scoot straight to God’s side. Though that might be interesting for anOTHER poem. :)
2008-06-12 08:07:45 on i am restless to the peak.,,,,, i got very poor concentration too….
Get someone to prescribe medication for you. It’s made a world of difference for me.
2008-06-12 07:41:23 on Sometimes I think about walking into my room,
Sometimes I feel that way, too. It’s been months, though. My cure is usually humor. Meditation helps me, too, in keeping me from going that far in the first place.
You can contact me through my blog if you ever feel a need. I’d give you my personal e-mail through that site. rationalpsychic.wordpress . com, donchaknow.
I’m wishing you well.
2008-06-12 07:30:51 on Almost about done with life.
Anonymous,
I’m glad to see a few “hahaha”s out there. If you read my profile on this site, you know that I’ve had bipolar illness for years. I take lithium at the very least and wish I had the insurance to pay for Wellbutrin again.
If you’re really going through pain, you can contact me through my blog at rationalpsychic.wordpress if you want. I usually am able to respond within a day. Good luck to you!

Hey, “Almost Done.”
I do understand that alleviating you from the burden of choice would take away a great deal of stress. However, Zoloft can remove some of this stress–and your doctor can tell you to take it!
Still, if you really want to be an automaton–come on over to my place, I’ve got lots of cleaning to do! Make sure you get here before that feeling passes, though.
Cheers!
2008-06-10 18:37:31 on life sucks.
I agree. Life sucks. I have my problems–mom and dad entering dementia, no real job prospects currently and two of my kids who won’t talk to me–that make me think life sucks. Then, I sit and do meditation, or fill out a job application, or make dinner with the two kids of mine who do talk with me. I’m saying I don’t know how bad your individual situation is but things get better for me when I make some effort to change things for myself.
2008-06-10 17:58:31 on the past is a mirror and in its reflection i see
It’s a shame this one is listed anonymously. I wish the writer would give a read to a few of the poems I’ve posted on wordpress and give some feedback.
