I am on this site to help others and to socialize. However, under the umbrella of “helping others” I have two other tasks that have fallen on me for no other reason than… I’m good at them. And no one else wants/can handle the job.

The first is that of entertainer. A site like this will bring you down mighty fast if no one lightens things up a bit. We used to have a very large group would knew when it was time for fun, and they were observant enough to know when someone was making a joke, or doing something for the purpose of lightening the mood. Apparently, the newest wave of users isn’t quite as sharp and the Lost Ancients.

The other duty I have accepted is that of defender. We only have one active Mod, and no real Admin presence that we’re ‘allowed’ to see, if one exists at all at this point. You may also notice that late at night, we get an influx of trolls who know the site is unprotected. In addition to this, it’s intrinsic to the nature of the site that we have many users who are… shall we say… emotionally unstable.
Now. When the Mods are away, the trolls will play. Unfortunately, due to the unbalanced nature of some of their targets, some trolls may actually cause people to go and kill themselves.
This is where I come in. I do not have the abilities of a Mod, but I do have some of my own. What I do in these situations is distract and occupy trolls by forcing them to concentrate on me. I know I can take anything they can dish out, and throw it back even harder. Through my engaging them, they get the attention they’re after, and they leave the other users alone until the Mod Squad can get back online and ban them.

Do you follow? This is why I’m occasionally harsh. I know a troll when I see one, and I’d rather they attack me than someone it may harm. I like this site, despite it’s flaws and questionable current management. Because of this, I will do anything I can to protect it and it’s users.

Respect- esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person, a personal quality or ability, or something considered as a manifestation of a personal quality or ability.
Deserve- to be worthy of, qualified for, or have a claim to reward, punishment, recompense, etc.

“But respect and freedom are things we can freely give.”
Freedom? Perhaps. Respect? No. Respect is not a default with me. I only respect people if they have shown themselves to be worthy of it.

“Until of course a person has deemed themselves unworthy.”
Which the individuals in question accomplished in wanton abundance.

“Do you really think your message will be heard?”
What message is that?

“What audience are trying to move?”
Can’t I voice my opinion without having an ulterior motive?

“Is it just the select few who have historically angered you?”
You assume I anger easily, apparently. No. I hold these few in contempt. Nothing more. They’re not worthy of, nor capable of arousing my anger.

Sorry, as the Mod Squad has requested, I’m not posting on that post unless it’s on topic. I may be vehement in my defense of my opinion, but I will never disrespect the Mods.

Ah yes! I just thought it was nice and some of the kids doing positive things like that could use a bit of support when they come on the site I reckon. Nice to meet you by the way x
