I have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psych, from URI.
I grew up in Cambridge, MA. Traveled around USA at various schools and clinical work. Fell in love with Kingston, actually pretty much all of South County. Live at the entrance of URI.
Emily I have to tell you that I am getting abit apprehensive about writing down so many specific places, etc in a public forum.

Yeah I hope to get more familiar with the northern rhode island area so I know what’s a good area and such. I was born at Kent hospital and lived in West Warwick til I was 2. Then we moved to Ashaway and have been in this house ever since! What about you?
As far as graduate school for psych…I think about going for social work or family and marriage counseling. do you have a masters in psychologY?

Are you a native Rode Islander? Fighting rush is a drag, did it for years when I worked at Zambarano Hospital. Lovely, caring hosp but drive was a drag. Evenings. The area around Rochambeau St is dangerous, Main Street, have your swell phone with you always.

I haven’t heard the name Dr. Afonso yet but I’ll keep an eye out for him. I’ve heard the RI Hospital psychiatric ward is not that wonderful so that may be a good thing if what you say happens.
Driving there stinks from here! I am only part time evenings so it’s about 2-3 days a week but right now I’m doing full-time orientation so it’s 3 straight weeks of driving to providence early in the morning. Not exactly my thing…I live with my parents now and hopefully can move out in a few months to a closer place in warwick or cranston

Care New England and Lifespan have merged, so Butler & RI Hospital makes sense. Actually RI Hosp has a psychiatric unit, maybe they will transfer it to Butler. Is Dr Afonso still there? He ran an outpatient clinic.
I agree the campus rivals URI, actually it’s more beautiful than URI’s. Do you drive up 95 to get there? Faily long drive.

It’s a beautiful campus. Really old. They’ve been doing renovations on it for years and they recently moved around some of the units. I think they just signed off on a merger with Rhode Island Hospital or something so they may be combining together at some point. Not sure what exactly will happen with the current structures. Some parts of the hospital are so cold and vacant it’s creepy

Butler, I remember when that place was full & had waiting lists. It is nearly closed isn’t it. A magnificent structure. Thought I read it was going to be sold? Or transformed into assisted living? Not sure.

That’s insane! I mean I met a person here a few months ago who goes to Rhode Island College but I think that’s the closest. People from all over the world come to this website, too! I haven’t been on here in over a month so welcome to the site! I hope you don’t have to go out tomorrow early because it’s gonna be a tough commute to anywhere

Hah I go to Wood River for pretty much all my medical issues and have been for years. I just started working at Butler hospital this past tuesday. It is very intense but I really enjoy it so far.

we live about 12 miles apart, i would imagine. Geez what a small state. lol

1st week I was here every shout was to me, lol. I work in Hopkinton,on Mechanic St. Worked at the Wood River Health Center a few years ago.
Will you be working at Butler or Bradley?

Yep I was at work this afternoon & there it was again, SNOW. As I write this I can hear the snow plows scraping the road. They’ve been busy. Quite frankly Ive had enough snow to last the rest of the winter!!
Which section of RI are you from? As I stated I am from South County.

Hey I just got the comment you left me about also being from Rhode Island. Now I am reading a shout you left about the current snowstorm! I was just watching the snow fall (that was supposed to start this evening at 8 and it’s been falling since 4). I love seeing people on here from Rhode Island or New England!
