try updating the bios if that doesn’t work then try using the command prompt and enter this chkdsk /f then when asked select Y to run at restart then restart PC and it will fix any errors in xp. :-)

The Clue, I am fixing a computer for a friend, and I came accross an interesting situation, when he turns on his computer his disk drive (Mitshita) dissapears and a new non CD Drive appears, however when he boots into safe mode he can see the Drive yet again, what could be causing this? Do you think i.e. for the CD Drive to only appear in safe mode.

I got a stupid tech issue. My daughter set up a password on my desk top to protect my stuff and now can’t remember it. When you turn it on it asks for it. The tech I use told me I have to re-image it or re-install windows xp, but I’ll lose all my files. lol…that’s why I tell her to use her own:)

Yeah it was a little more complicated than that.

I miss the old days too. When the Cnet people actually cared what happened to this place and if anything weird or bad was happening. Where the community was a lot stronger and help actually happened.
It still is a community but there’s a lot more bad apples and people willing to hurt others. Only so many I can banned - heh.
Wish CBS would see the gem they have here and save it before it really is too late. I don’t think its dead yet but the mass-hysteria and rumors is killing it.

Yeah. I’ve had my share of ups and downs too. This site has helped me in so many ways. I will be forever grateful to Cnet - as lame as that sounds.

LOL that is what I told him, of coarse didn’t believe me so he had to find out on his own. I usually get up at 3 or 4 AM cant sleep. I have been raising the boys since the youngest was 2.

Single dad, that must be tough but I suppose now they are all older it isn’t as bad..?
LOL moved back in, take the reality was not as good as the dream, that’s the thing these days, they seem to think that once they move out they get everything they want, freedom, indepandance and all the good living but ends up being not as good as they expected :D
Mym mum had both my brothers at home as they just can’t afford to move out after Uni etc, feel sorry for her!
