  The problem…feelings in your stomach is your fear. And your fear of rejection. Whatever reasons you have…or any memories you might have…are just perceptions. Strike up a conversation with this person. It could be something that you both need…and you could both learn something from one another. Don’t let fear get in the way. Remember…discomfort should not be avoided. Sometimes it’s an indication that you are growing. :)

  First, I’m sorry that you’re going through so much stress. It’s obvious from your post, that you are definitely busy and being pulled in many directions in life.
  
  I am a stranger and can detect your stress and vulnerability.
  
  Imagine how your ‘best friend’ is perceiving this?
  
  He knows that you are stressed out and are single. It sounds like he’s trying to pressure you into a relationship (Over your wishes, of course). And using your vulnerable state as an advantage. I didn’t realize for a long time, but some ppl are methodical when it comes to trying to get others to do what they want.
  
  That doesn’t sound too nice of him, does it? When someone you “love” is in distress, you try to shelter them. Not pressure them into actions contrary to their free will. I mean, sometimes tough love works. But couldn’t he be considerate and give you, “time” at least? What’s the rush. Would you do that to him?
  
  There doesn’t seem to be enough respect there. And one of the most valuable lessons, i’ve learned in my life. Is that if a relationship doesn’t have a strong basis of respect? It’s not fulfilling enough.
  
  You need to tell him once more, clearly. ” I am stressed and vulnerable. I need a friend now. Could you just be that for me?” If he responds by just being a friend. Then that’s good. And I am so happy for you.
  
  But if he responds by being cold to you? Or being friends but pressuring you once again? STOP TALKING TO HIM. The person that he cares about the most in this relationship is himself. And that is totally not fair. Too selfish.
  
  Good luck. You’ll find a good friend else. Or maybe you could just take some “me time.” To try to sort things out and start and inner dialogue w/yourself. You could learn alot about yourself this way. Good luck. I wish you the best.

  Fixx. Sometimes people hurt us. But you do not have to carry on their legacy. Rise above it. And do not become them. Let the cycle end with you. YOU are strong enough to do this. And if you slip, keep on striving, keep on living. And try to do the best thing in your life. The things you have gone through, are a test. This life is a test. Be victorious. :)

  Hi Snar, it’s good to see you again. It’s me Yewdale, remember? We had debated over the political views of a librarian in Arizona once.
  
  Sans had sent a big invite and here i am.
  
  the way you’re feeling is common. sometimes we just get tired and angry and begin to see the world as harsh and dangerous. It is true, the world is harsh and dangerous, sometimes. But then again, this is perception. You can choose to see the bad or see the goodd, it’s both there, all mixed in.
  
  it’s really interesting, your post, and i had to respond. your question brings to mind a book i read a few months back, about the make-up of altruistic ppl.
  
  there was a study of a group of ppl who voluntarily decided to donate their kidneys to stangers, through a non-profit program. on one hand, one would wonder why would they do such a thing? isn’t the self better than a complete stranger? couldn’t I make better use of this organ than another? nah, i don’t know, it’s all perception.
  
  what did these ppl gain from going through painful surgery and having limited kidney function? i don’t know. i don’t think i’d voluntarily sign to donate a kidney. but apparently, the common explanation for their actions were.., “i saw a need and just did it.”
  
  hmmm. but there had a to be some gratification, right? i’ve done good things for others, and sought to do it anonymously….yet..i got something outta it. this high, relly. a rush for a job well done, or a sort of vicarious pleasure through their response.
  
  so, the point to my rant is this. we’re all selfish and there are all sorts. but this selfishness serves as a means of making the world go round. and perspective has alot to do with it.
  
  pppl will be ppl. you cant change them. but you can change your percpetion and internal dialogue and this in turn will change how your experience. like everyone else said, look at the big picture. life is short.

  Anonymous, it is probably nothing, cold shoulder like Trentlover said.
  
  But just to be on the safe side, if you are concerned, go to the doctor. or keep your cell phone with you, so that you can speed dial 911 or a friend if you have to, in case anything were to happen. Just let them know ahead of time, that you will call them in case of an emergency.
  
  That’s what i would do…even if it weren’t anything to worry about.
