Well in the beginning I used to go to school up until 3rd grade and my mom was always hearing about homeschool so finally in third grade she decided to homeschool me and my siblings! I like it a whole lot more than if I was in school because I don’t have to stay in a building all day and be on a schedule (I do have my own schedule but its not anything you’d find in a school system) the people are a really friendly and I’d say there is a lot more freedom, because we can learn things the way we want to learn and we get into things that we are really interested in. As for the social aspect, it is definitely not how most people think of it, even the way we learn isn’t how most people think. I go to something that is kind of like a regular school where a bunch of other home schooled kids get together and we go to classes taught by real teachers (who have home schooled their children) they follow a curriculum but they also add in their own knowledge. Its once a week on thursdays and we go get all our homework for the week there and we learn subjects as if we were in a normal school. There are a variety of classes but I am only taking English, biology and geometry. I learn everything else through my own studies through the internet, books, mom etc. FLVS.net is where I take spanish 2. I have many friends and in the homeschool community, everyone knows everyone else. I am also in a drama group of about 70-100 kids and every year we put on a show that is beyond amazing. Everyone involved has such a great time and we become a huge family. http://starsintheuniverse.com/teacher… this is the website of our drama group. If you look around you might find an organization of home schoolers near you. here is another link to the boca home schoolers page - http://www.bocahomeschoolers.com/

Hi Central,

I was reading a bit about you in your profile and noticed that you are home schooled. Have you been homeschooled since you were young? How is homeschooling working out for you? How about the social aspect? I’m thinking of homeschooling my kids
