So, if you look at the menu under “Account Admin”, you’ll find the word “Friends” there.
By selecting “friends”, you are taken to a page with a list of your friends. You will find my name as a “fan” there, and you are expected to make a choice of whether or not you accept me as your friend.
Just scroll over the icons, and an explanatory text will appear.

There are a lot of helpful gadgets here at help, and I don’t know them all.
One common mistake when using the shoutbox is to forget to press the other’s name before replying, which will mean that you reply in your own box and the addressee does not even see it.
But such things come with practice!
